A question about : Sneaky Asda!
I used to buy their own variety of Coolmint Mouthwash. It went from 54p to 58p the 63p which was okay & because I liked using it I didn't really mind the price increases! However I went back today to buy some as I was running out & noticed it's no longer there & I've just checked online & it's been confirmed! Although they do have another Asda Coolmint mouthwash repackaged & Ј1!!
Be careful MSE's Asda are becoming really sneaking.
Just found Tesco do a similar mouthwash for 56p & I think I'll buy it there from now on!
On a side issue has anyone noticed the price of Asda SP Jaffa Cakes? 12 for 50p went to Sainsburys the other day & bought 12 McVities (market leader) jaffa cakes for 46p!
Don't be conned my Asda's so called 'low prices' I'm not
Best answers:
- Talking of Sainsburys, their version of jaffa cakes are IMO better than the 'original' ones. 24 for 60p!
And their Basics mouthwash is perfectly 'minty' as well . 47p for 500ml. - I normally really like Asda and find them good value but will be keeping an eye out for this! Thanks for the Sainsburys Jaffa cake tip too
- I find the Jaffa Cakes at Lidl really nice. They do strawberry or raspberry ones too. Really Tasty!
- Asda seem to have also stopped selling 4 packs of tuna in brine, started about Ј2,99 then went to Ј3.19 now you can only buy in individual cans for about 89p each....mmmm something fishy going on !
Sorry couldn't resist - Ive just been on mysupermarket and the pink and whites have gone from 43p to 81p in a week!! wont be buying them anymore!!

Its not in the recall list, is it? Dentyl made the mouth wash for ASDA also. - oops posted in wrong section!
- Home Bargains have pink and whites for about 40p still! (Am eating one now!!!!)
- I think all the supermarkets are doing this. Two weeks ago I bought some Tesco own tinned salmon for 88p. This week the same tin/weight etc is Ј1.99. It wasn't on special when I first got it either.
- asda own brand all bran which is MUCH cheaper seems to be impossible to get hold of at the moment, I wonder if they are rebranding this and about to release at a much higher price?
- Would agree with other posters. I do my main shop at Asda and you need to be so Јperkg aware. I started buying boned breast of lamb recently and always bought one to freeze if they had small ones (just cooking for 2). As I had an 'old' one to compare with I noticed the price per kg has shot up from Ј3 something to Ј4 something in just a few weeks.
- bread flour! gone from 48p per 1.5kg to 68p in a couple of weeks!
Must be due for a roll back soon! - I find Asda very expensive, i think people are confused with all the roll backs and Ј1 signs, i find morrisons or tescos alot cheaper. Especially if you try to stick to own brands.
my advice is to try a different supermarket using your recipt to buy the same things avoiding offers and see how it compares...Also i find Asda basics very bad quality. - Basics Tuna is a bug bear for me. Last year 29p and now 55p
I think the ingredients have gone up and also they have to make up some of the losses of people switching brands!!!
I bought some value muesli with (wait for it) 2.5% raisins and 0.5% hazelnuts!!! (be like a treasure hunt!!) But 58p
