A question about : Slimming World support thread for 2010

Apparently long threads slow the boards down and as ours has reached a massive 58 pages long, I thought it was time to start a new one.

Hopefully, this will be the year that your commitment to losing weight remains strong and, as we all know, there is no more generous slimming plan than Slimming World's food optimising. Where else could you have bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and baked beans for breakfast, jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch and fish, chips and mushy peas for tea all as free food, unlimited, and with no calories or points to count. (other plans even have you using precious points to eat fruit for goodness sake title=EEK!)

Here's the link to the recipe thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...40&postcount=3

Hope to see everyone here until they reach their own personal target title=Big

  • Morning, Consultant - found you!! Thanks for doing this, hope we all carry on meeting here for support and inspiration.
  • morning, god why are we all up so early on a Sunday? I cant remember the last time I had a nice lie in.
My 2 are doing my head in all ready, they are so loud lol. We need to get out somewhere today, we are all going stir crazy.
I enjoyed my 2 glasses of wine last night and also had 2 scan bran with free salmon pate, it was delicious. I feel quite good as I normally say sod it and end up wit more wine or more crisps. The thing is I didnt even miss them.
  • Good morning ladies. Well I'm up early as I had baby sitting duties last night and DGS is an early riser - been up since 5.30
Nic it sounds as though your attitude to slimming is much more positive since you can have a little of something without it blowing the plan completely. A little wine to wash down the scan bran sounds just the thing
  • btw, incase anyone notices my starting weight in my sig has changed. That weight was from when I started last year, my weight has come off and on since then, so decided to take the weight I was at the beginning of Jan as my new starting weight, as I have been sticking to the plan properly since then.
Ive chose my first mini target, to lose a stone. Id like to of lost that and maybe a wee bit more by valetines day.
  • Morning everyone on the new thread...still a student and no babies...so a 10am wake up for me! haha, make the most of it while I don't have a 9-5 eh?

  • Morning all!
Thanks for the shiny new thread consultant - it's so busy already!!
Thanks also to nic2075 for your reply about the bhajis. I also tried the onion ones and enjoyed them. The vegetable ones are free, but don't seem to have any spices in them....but don't worry, I'll change that! I'm a bit of a spice fiend!
If I do make them I'll let you all know if they are worth the effort or not
Hope we all have a good day
  • Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After only losing 1lb on my first week I lost 4lb this week - WI today as online member
The funny thing is that I seem to have eaten more this week too.
Still got loads to lose but this has really motivated me
  • Hi everyone, Happy New Thread!
Today is a boyfriend day so meals are as follows:
Breakfast - toast and tea (HEb and HEa)
snack - pineapple finger and grapes
Lunch - curry savoury rice then some fruit (it's asda day tomorrow so cupboards are a bit bare)
Dinner - SW yellow thai curry (the one in the magazine), rice and veg on the side (don't ask what veg, BF is supplying those), maybe with a wee treatlet for dessert.
Hmm actually is that too much rice in one day? Might change that to a chicken breast and some more fruit, I don't have anything in that could make a sauce.
  • Hi all and a lovely shiny new thread!
OH is cooking a SW breakfast as we've just emerged We were awake for a while but was lying in talking about the wedding etc and me thinking I would like to be preggers this timenext year
Something seems to have clicked in me since New Year - I'm so much calmer, have nearly all the wedding stuff sorted (in my head if not in reality) and I feel really happy I just bloody hope it rubs off on my weight loss too as that's still getting me down a little!
OH is cooking SW quorn curry (he prefers quorn to meat these days!) for dinner later. We're forgoing the roast for once as we had a fab meal at Mum's last night!
  • Morning all! Thanks for new thread. skintCatt you sound like you're in much better form. Happy Days!
I have ditched all my target dates (originally wanted to get to target which is a stone away for 17th of March) and so I feel less pressured too.
plus, I'm going on a cruise this summer and just think I hope I get slim for that and at any rate, I'm already slimmer than when I started so
I must confess though, I find it hard to stay upbeat on those angelic weeks where I've done 100% and still STS......It's happened once or twice and while I do believe in theory that any loss or a STS is fine, it is annoying in practice!
have a good week everyone! xx
  • Nic - I too have that feeling that as it's the weekend all rules go out the window as it's treat time!! I'm trying to fix that too by sticking more to plan (i used to just ignore it!) and planning my meals for the weekend too. It's a shame to undo all the good work through the week on the weekend, and I think that's what I was doing. Still ended up going for a roast dinner later, though! Damn.
    Nice new thread
  • Hi folks
I had a late start this morning but had a full cooked breakfast the sw way it was lovely.
While I was cooking I decided to make a free Leek & Potato soup that i could freeze & take to work for lunches.I really fancied one the other day & looked up how much the new covent garden ones are,I was really amazed to find out it was 11.5 syns for the carton.
I have, in the past, had these quite often - no wonder i have a weight problem!!
I hope the rest of the day is as positive.
    Jo
  • great to see everyone either losing loads or in the right frame of mind. A good start to a new thread and a new year.
I had some of Marions rice this morning and im still stuffed, Ill have to have a late lunch. Not sure what kind of day im having yet, trying to keep it neutral and decided on dinner later, it will either be EE and have turkey stirfry or green and have mushroom rissotto.
Going to drag everyone out to the local woods for a walk in a bit, every ones a bit fed up stuck in the house and its dry at the moment, and quite mild.
  • Hi guys,
Just been browsing the BBC Good Food website, and have come across a nice looking vegetarian recipe that is very easy to convert to a free meal on green days, if you swap the olive oil for fry light. It's "butternut squash chilli with quinoa" if you want to look it up.
I like quinoa as it makes a nice change from rice or couscous, and is supposed to be a very healthy grain. mmmmmm!
Hope this helps any veggies out there!
  • Ok so plan changed again, dad made breakfast so I ended up having a piece and bacon so that means lunch can be fruit and some tea (late brekkie) and dinner will be the same.
  • Hi Everyone
I was thrilled to find this thread as I have decided to join my local Slimming World group on Thursday.
I have alot of weight to lose but am determined and think joining a group will help motivate me to do it. I like the sound of the SW plans, especially not having to weigh and measure all the time and being a family of four I dont want to be cooking seperate meals for the kids.
From what I have read so far people on here are supportive and encouraging so I hope I can be of help too.
Good luck everyone with your weight loss.
