A question about : Skimmia
Are there any Skimmia experts on here? I thought this shrub was supposed to grow to about 3 feet high. I have just had to cut the top off mine, which must have been at least 8 feet high. Now I'm wondering if it will fill out or have I ruined it? Having it so high was not an option! I cannot remember what variety it is. It was a potted purchase from a garden centre about 15 years ago.
Best answers:
- Which skimmia?
- Could you post a photo, you might get more advice. They do grow to different sizes...I'm not expert tho, but have a few in my garden. My one is about 5-6 foot high.
- As its /was 8 ft plus its likely S.Japonica, hybrids and varieties grow a lot smaller. It will fill out but could take a little while.
- You'll find a good resource for varieties on Google and go to RHS.org.ok/plantfinder for nurseries near to you that sell them. Good luck.
