A question about : Shout credit card

Does anyone have any experience of Shout credit card which is part of Raphaels bank?

Looking for ways of rebuilding credit and have been declined by cap 1, aqua and vanquis.

Thanks

  • Holy hell. That looks pretty much exactly like the Rise credit card. I'd stay away from that card. You get charged even if you don't use it. It's almost like carrying a PDL on a CC
  • Have you tried the Barclaycard Initial? They will give you an instant decision and will be a hell of a lot better than one of those sorry excuses for a card! I wonder what it would work out at in interest if you had Ј200.01-Ј300 on it??? It's Ј540 in charges!
  • i honestly wouldnt bother
  • Shout is a new one on me but I agree, don't bother. To get declined by Vanquis your credit must really be shot to pieces. Have you tried Capital One Secured?
Other ways to build credit: Cashplus prepaid card creditbuilder, J D Williams account, sim only mobile phone contract.
  • I would not recommend the card that the Op is recommending to anyone (sorry if this offends you).
It looks like you are having a tough time OP.
May I ask for your reason in wanting a credit card? Is it help rebuild your credit?
If so, have you looked at the Cap1 secure card (I don't know if you tried - based on your post). If you can't get this - then it look like no know one will allow you to have one.
BTW: I have had a glance @ Shout's website and the card is underwritten/promoted by the same people as Rice - Card Benefit Services LLC - I beleive they lend the money and Raphal Provide the card (it's like a prepaid visa card) - to my understanding.
    Good luck
  • I was declared bankrupt in 2008 and I had debt with Barclaycard, cap 1 and Vanquis. I have a cashplus top up card with the credit builder on and a mobile contract (had this prior to bankruptcy) so hopefully this will help. I don't want to get into debt again (I learned the hard way from my mistakes as a teenager which led to my bankruptcy) but eventually I would like to have my own property which is the only reason I am looking to improve. I am not going to look any further into the Smile card, as it sounds like it is no better then a payday loan. I am hoping if I improve my credit rating a little I can apply to aqua again for this purpose.
  • I like they way they don't charge interest just a 'simple monthly fee' what a con trick
  • My partner has one of these, under the 'RISE' brand and to be honest, they are perfectly fine for rebuilding credit...HOWEVER if you intend to carry balances and a large amount, DON'T GET ONE!!!
Although there is allegedly a charge even if you don't use it, we leave the car with a CREDIT balance on the statement date and so far have NEVER been charged the Ј3.50 a month charge.
Also, it is effectively FREE of charges for the period between statement dates so long as the statement doesn't have a balance. My partner got one of these when they first came out...the charges are only Ј10 per Ј100 as opposed to the Ј15 per Ј100 they advertise now!
Effectively a PAYDAY LOAN FACILITY, which if you act with restraint could work out relatively cheap and help your credit file.
  • CREDIT CARD
    (sorry, couldn't resist)
  • I have a Rise credit card and got an email at the start of the month saying that my card is being replaced by Shout. Still not arrived yet though.
  • as per the shout visa credit card, i have held my card for four months never had any problems with them. i only applied for the card because my credit rating was shot to pieces.and yes i did know what i was letting my self in-for. i always pay the balance in full every month,i only got the card for use in emergency's.i have had to phone customer services a couple of times, and always get put straight through, with no waiting or crappy background music and they are always very helpful if you are looking for a way of helping to rebuild your credit rating this card can help, as long as its used wisely
