A question about : "Sealed Pot Challenge 4"
Yes, here we are again all dedicated Sealed Pot Savers! We're off again with yet another Sealed Pot Challenge! This time it's No 4! We've had 3 extremely successful money-saving years thanks to you ALL!! For all newcomers please read through this post to see what the SPC is all about.
The idea is for us save as much as possible throughout the following year until just before Christmas, December 1st. We save it in pots that we've pre-sealed to stop us being tempted from opening them. Any spare cash can be put away, every day/week/month, whatever is best for you. If you have change left after you've been shopping - stick it in the pot! Why not, it won't be missed. It's entirely up to everyone to please themselves, but to save all you can for YOUR sakes! It's all very easy and all newcomers will very soon get the idea, but below are the basics.
Firstly: Get yourself a pot, and remember - it doesn't need to cost much if anything. If money's tight use any pot for now, ie a tin, coffee jar..extremely MSE!! Next seal it with cellotape and be sure to make a slit in the lid, big enough for a 50p to go in. Later on, if you wish, take advantage of finding one in the sales after Christmas, or put one you fancy on your Christmas list! You can always buy ready sealed tins from reasonably priced shops! About a POUND!!
Or have a go at making yourself a Paper Mache pig/cow etc by using Frugaldom's recipe by clicking here then going to Post No. 597. Many thanks to Frugaldom.After selecting your pot, seal round the lid with cellotape or superglue if necessary. Be sure to make a slit in the top that is the right size for at least a 50p! If you make a Paper Mache pot you will need to operate on it at the end of each challenge! Still, you can always have the pleasure of making a new one towards the end of the year.

Terrimundi pots widely available in shops and on-line, are very attractive and another ready sealed way to save, and though they'd have you believe you need to you DO NOT need to smash them to remove your cash!! I've used mine for 2 years...and at the end of last year's challenge hubby and I had a whale of a time, doing things the 'old' way by tilting the pot and using a knife! 
So be assured that, so long as you go carefully, you CAN use them again and again....unless you drop the darned things!
NB. A few notes of interest.
1/ You can ask me to put a Target on for you to try to meet, but it's not necessary. If you don't meet the target you set, it doesn't matter at all.
A few people keep account of all they save, but most of us count what we save each day, then put it on the thread to help encourage others then forget about it and .......wait for the surprise at the end of the year!
2/ Mainly it's a challenge to see how much we can save in a year for Christmas 2011. However, over the last 3 years we've had some members who needed theirs for bills, and personally, I'd far sooner they take it out for that rather than pay more interest or miss a due date. You can always start again, even if it's getting later in the year, just be happy.
3/ Mainly we save for Christmas - but - if you wish to save for something special then please do so, the most important thing, to my mind, is that we're saving ...and hopefully not tempted to take it out unnecessarily. If anyone has any other queries, then please sing out ....though not too loudly, you might shatter your pots!

I had a nice surise today when checking my online banking, a payment of Ј790 gone in no idea where from or what for though so it will probably be taken away from me but it looks nice at the minute! If its still there when i get in from work i will call the bank and find out what its from as it doesnt say.
Anyway - hoping for a nsd so unless i find some pennies - nothing in the pot for me today
P x - ooooh here I go for the first sealed pot challenge for me. At the moment I do not have a sealed pot, it's a tin. but I intend to make one (I am rather tempted by the suggestion made by somebody on challenge no 3 who ate a tub of icecream).
I have started with about Ј4 in mine, and I shall continue with the coppers in the demi john until it's full, but on second thoughts, maybe I'll cash it in, and start again.
I shall set a target of approx Ј1 a day, and go for an annual target of Ј300. That would be lovely for next Christmas. - good morning

Well my new pot WHEN I get it will be starting off with 70p that I got in change yesterday thats still in my purse. . . . . . thinking about it i'd better move it before I spend it by accident! - oooooh forgot to add im upping my target this year to Ј500 for christmas next year
- 5 X Ј2 coins today going into the Summer 2011 fund, also popping some coinage into my shiny new sealed pot.
Good to see everyone is just as excited about this challenge. Still waiting for a lot of totals to be declared before we can announce the overall total for SPC3 - A very good morning to all, it's great to see everyone settling in in our new home.
