A question about : Scam Warning Issued by The Natural Skincare Company on Facebook

Just seen this message from them on Facebook...

The Natural Skincare Company
PLEASE READ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Beware an email scam whereby you click through onto a website offering you a 'free' trial of a product (skincare RVTL and keytones slimming pills). This is a scam, is not a free trial and it binds you into a subscription. You have to give your payment card details for the postage, and they then deduct a huge amount from your card a few days later! What is more, they are using our details and telephone number as their customer services. WE ARE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SCAM! I am happy to help anyone who has been a victim, but please could you PASS THIS ON to everyone you know!

  • I stupidly signed for the 2 free trials of both equinox and RVTL and paid 4.95 and 2.95, then I read the small print, which wasn't available until I bought the trials and realized it was a scam.I rang a no and an indian guy sent me 3 emails saying I had cancelled, but I got a pot of cream in the post this morning, which im sure they will bill me 99 pounds for. From what I've read, they ignore the cancellation and bill you with whatever they want. I've cancelled my debit visa card with Halifax but the bank say that the company can still take money out I'm on benefits and am going into hospital in dec 5th for a major huge operation and I don't want to worry about this stupid scam but I am really freaking out.. can anyone help please?
  • Proceed with a chargeback on your debit card - ask your bank to do this for you.... say to them it is an Unathorised Payment
  • thank you my bank has cancelled the card but says I will still be billed by the company.. I will ask them about chargeback.. many thanks.. this is causing me a lot of stress
  • Hiya this type if scam has happened before. I can't remember which board it's on its either praise, vent or warnings. Or the consumer rights board. You might be able to find out what you can do they charge you.
    Hope this helps
  • thank you.. I will have a look.
  • I and my friend have fallen for this scam, the word is fraud really. I did not see anything in their add which said I was signing up for further supplies. After my friend phoned me and said almost Ј200 had been taken from her account I went online only to find that on the 10/10 they took Ј95. and Ј89 under slightly different names, Skin Cure and Natural Skin. Postage was taken earlier on the 26/9 two lots one for Ј4.95 and another Ј2.99. Then not even a month later on the 28/10 they have taken another Ј99.95 and Ј95.95 respectively. Thats Ј400 taken which I was totally unaware of. All I have received is two serums and two small pots of cream which I did not ask for. To add insult to injury I would suspect that the cream is just cheap rubbish. Surely these people should not be able to dupe the public so easily. Between my friend and myself we have been done out of Ј600 in just over a month. Should I write to Watchdog about this. Any thoughts anyone ?
  • No Fraud Involved
    Terms & Conditions
If you do not cancel before the end of 14-day trial, we consider you as our valued member of home delivery program and charge the credit card on file the full price of $93.00.
  • In reply to 'Snakepilsen' (are you playing with names), this is certainly a scam. The terms of the company supplying RVTL cream (despatch has no company name only shipping address) I am not quite sure who, states clearly:
'Ј89.00 taken thirty days from order, if not cancelled in 14 day trial period and every 30 days until cancelled thereafter.'
My money was taken way before these dates and after I cancelled, having both emailed and managed to finally get someone on the phone. Fortunately I cancelled my credit card but there is no charge back by credit card company for money taken because you freely give card details to the company.
If it wasnt a scam the fact you are joining a membership programme and the full price would be advertised clearly on the main page with trial details.
(The creams main content seems to be purified water, )
  • You don't think that using another company's name and telephone number is fraudulent?
  • Lots of companies do this, it isn't a scam.
The biggest one I can think of is Which magazine, you sign up for a free trial and the subscription kicks in if you don't cancel with in the time of the terms and conditions.
Its up to the consumer to
    A. Read the terms and conditions properly
    B. Remember to cancel within the time stated.
    Simple as that.
  • My husband has just found out that he had been scammed with the same free offer product. He had ordered it for me(!) and they have taken 2 payments out for products I did not even receive. The company operates under different names (see title) and addresses. I also spoke with 3 different Asian (?) guys with surprisingly English names who have no idea of consumer rights or how postal services operate in the UK. From the same phone number I got and address in Surrey and another in Scotland. The guys did not first want to know, then refused to get in touch with the Post Office to track our order which is wrong as the Post Office only tracks with sellers. I have written a letter which I am sending to the 3 different addresses I have, as advised by trading standards but I am not holding my breath as I have discovered today that this is a scam although they operate just within the Law.
My husband got this offer via a link from the normal offer websites he receives. I can't find the email as he got in December but more publicity should be put out about this company.
  • Which customer service phone number did you call ?
  • Hi
I have fallen for the same scam for the above products, could anyone tell me the phone number of the company or give me an e mail address, so that I can contact them. I ordered these in January one product for 4.95 and the other for 2.99. I thought they were just trial samples and that was all I had to pay, however further payments of 95.00 and 89.99 were debited from my account early feb. I have been to the bank and they have put a stop on the company being able to take any more payments
  • why would anyone pay for a 'free trial'
    there's a saying somewhere .....
