S4 mini screen replacement

A question about : S4 mini screen replacement

Hello, have managed to shatter the screen on my S4 mini and am wondering which repair kit to get, there are a few out there ranging in price, but i presume the cheaper ones will have sub-standard glass.

Has anyone bought a kit before and would you recommend...

• Have you checked what samsung will charge for the repair?
• Have been quoted Ј115 in a local phone shop and Ј125 in o2 shop where i bought the phone, they both want to replace the digitiser even though it works ok even with a shattered screen...
• The digitiser is bonded to the glass, you'll not be able to replace the broken part without it.
• There are a few videos on youtube showing how to seperate the bond by slowly heating with a heat gun or hairdryer, tho you have to disassemble the phone innards first...surely worth a try first rather than forking out 50% of what the phone is worth?
