A question about : RIP OFF ON CAR INSURANCE (c.a.r.s debt )

My situation is a little more confusing and in need of some assistance, i took out a car insurance with a company called “policy wise” who are absolutely s**t. Now upon speaking to a colleague they wanted to increase my insurance due to misleading information. I was not impressed by this due to the fact that they were charging me high amounts of money per month.
Upon speaking to the colleague on the phone “policy wise ” i then told her i was going to cancel the car insurance because it was a rip off. I then stated towards the end of the phone conversation that is there a charge for cancellation, the reason this was said was because if their was a high amount of price for the cancellation fee i would have just carried on paying the insurance respectfully. The colleague stated on the phone that NO there is no cancellation that i would need to pay so i was happy with this and proceeded with the cancelation days after ( mind you iv just paid my 1st month instalment just before cancellation ) . Now after sending an email of my cancellation notice i them received an email back from policy wise stating that they have received my cancellation email.
Thinking everything was fine i then received a call two days later saying i owe them 292 pounds. I was so confused as i stated to The colleague that one of their previous colleague told me its free to cancel otherwise i wouldn't have cancelled. This is when i started getting real !!!!ed off, after speaking to the senior i stated that i will not be paying anything I told them to look at their phone conversation voice recording confirming this i also wanted a copy of the voice recording, i gave them the date of the call and they gt bk to me two days later.

Now here is where it gets even more funny the senior of policy wise did indeed send me the voice recording as promised, as a matter of fact she gave me all the conversations i ever had. When I listened to the relevant phone recording i was getting real excited thinking how im going to prove them so wrong. Then i noticed the last 10 seconds of when i spoke about the cancellation was completely muted and altered so badly and the part where the woman said is free to cancel didnt exist, it was even so bad that it looked like i was talking to myself i couldn’t believe it.
Furious with rage i contacted my network provider requesting an actual copy of my phone conversation but under laws i was told the company does not record peoples conversation. I then called the car insurance and spoke to the woman telling her why my voice was edited she said she does not know why, i then said ” isnt it funny how all my other phone convs are intact apart from that last part confirming my proof of what the colleague said. I got so !!!!ed that i told em their is no way im signing any cancellation form as i was mislead and cheated. With no proof i was super !!!!ed, i really wanted to f**ck up this car insurance reputation how dare they tamper with evidence.
Few days past and they sent me a letter to sign for the cancellation but i ripped it up and threw it in the bin, i didnt hear anything from them since. THEN ALL OFF A SUDDEN i get a letter from C.A.R.S saying i owe them money with countless calls and text (who the hell are cars) why am i getting cheated like this. Its not fair im only 23 can any one help!

  • Just look again at your first paragraph.
They charged you an amount, but because you had not given them the correct information, the charges were wrong. So they obviously wanted to charge you the correct amount.
I wouldn't think there is an insurance company in the world that does not charge a cancellation/admin fee.
I think you have probably misheard and you are up the creed without a paddle. Have a look at your terms and condition on your policy
Who do you have insurance with now.
