Replacement boiler cost

A question about : Replacement boiler cost

The boiler in my mother's 3 bedroom house has gone and needs replacing. It's an old open vented system with a 35 year old floor mounted heat-only boiler that has gone kaput.

British Gas have suggested a BAXI Solo 15 HE and a cost of Ј3841, including fitting. Seems very high to me.

  It does seem really high - im not a plumber and i'm only comparing a new boiler we has installed last year which cost us near Ј1700 which was a Glow-worm brand.
  I'd get a few quotes before you sign on the dotted line.

• British gas are rip-off merchants. Google "baxi solo 15 he boiler" and you will find that the cost of the boiler is about Ј580. Ask British gas how long it will take to install ( I bet it is one day or less) then ask them if their daily rate is really Ј3300.
  Find a local independent boiler fitter.
