A question about : Redress Claims

Hi Guys
I had a call from Redress Claims last night, telling me that if I have had my credit card limit increased or decreased that the provider was in breach of contract, as for every change I should be sent a new agreement. They wanted to do this for me at no charge, and my credit card balance would be written off on this basis. I asked if this was something that I could do, and he said no, as a Financial Audit would need to take place - and this would need to be done by a solicitor.
Surely if this was the case, proving that I haven't received a contract would be easy as the bank wouldn't be able to show a contract as they do not hold one, as I have never signed new documents.

I haven't agreed to anything as I would have thought that Martin would have jumped on this too.

Let me know what you guys think

  • Hi Millie Mo,
I'm a first time user of this forum - in fact it was Redress Cliams that caused me to join so that i could share my experiences and warn others! This is a complete scam! They are registered with the Ministry of Justice but they're getting away with conning people out of Ј590 for this 'service'. Whoever told you the service was free is not being truthful. What they do is charge your credit card this Ј590 - and you can't stop this from going through so be VERY careful what you say to them - i was told that they were taking my card details to check if it was eligible under the claims scheme, but low and behold Ј590 appeared on my statement the very same day as the phonecall. You can't ask your credit card company to stop the payment as a credit card is a guaranteed form of payment, and as i was told by my card company, this is probably the reason they do it!
What they do is say that this will be refunded to you even if they can't get any bank/credit charges refunded. They try and sell it as a virtual payment, but be warned, if you don't have a case and they do refund you the Ј590 - what about the interest incurred on your card? Also their T&C's don't correspond with their advice or information in other parts of their website. For example, they say you'll get the full Ј590 back whatever happens, although somewehere else and NOT in the T&C's it says that there is a Ј50 non refundable charge. They also say you'll get the refund within 2 days, although i was then told by another member of staff that this was incorrect as it is 28 days! There is no time limit stated in the T&C's for refunds at all - what a surprise.
Plus when they send you the paperwork it asks for MORE money this time by cheque (amounts from Ј10 - Ј1)
But don't worry if you are taken in by these people - and they can be quite aggressive in their 'pitch' don't panic you can get your money back. All you have to do is apply their same tactics and bombard thm with calls and insist that you speak to someone with the relevant responsibility/authority. But act quickly and don't be fobbed off as you could wait so long and incurr additional interest charges.
My advice - steer well clear and speak to your bank/creditor directly - i understand that Martin's Money Tips has a standard form that you can use and this really is free!
  • Hi, I've had a company called Consortium Tech Ltd contact me about this; it all sounded too good to be true and definitely seems that way! The girl told me absolutely that the whole balance of my credit card would be wiped off if I transferred back to my previous credit card (obviously I'd have to pay a fee to do that too) then they would totally clear the debt. I have tried to look into this on various sites and it seems that there would be certain parts they wouldn't clear anyway, but ultimately I don't think it's worth even pursuing based on information of this site and comments by other consumers? Shame, I was quite excited at the prospect but I guess you can't ever get something for nothing!! Any positive experiences from anyone? Thanks
  • Hi!
I too was contacted by Redress Claims on 23rd/24th June continually and eventually gave in. I changed my mind on 25th and have cancelled according to Terms and Conditions etc. I am an O.A.P. and was very poorly with heart problems. I have had to spend a fortune on Recorded Delivery letter. , telephone calls etc. They do not have courtesy to reply to letters as requested. I have had to involve Consumer Direct, The Ombudsman and The Ministry of Justice and everything has been done correctly. It is now mid August and I still have not had my money refunded back - although this should have been done. All I have received is a threatening letter from them. PLEASE do NOT get involved with them like I have done at my cost!
  • Hi,
I recieved a cold call from Cancel your loan in Feb 2010, I told them I didn't have any unfair charges as I was never in arears and i had cancelled the PPI, they said that because egg had changed the agreement and the interset charges that they could get the charge cancelled. I did think that it was bad that egg had offered a low rate of interest when I took the card out, but that after the initial 0% offer was over the interest rate was increased so I never actually paid the low rate which was on my agreement.
They called serveral times until I gave in and signed up, they took Ј285 from my credit card under the name of a record shop, and I was told the whole process would take 12 weeks and I would recieve a full refund if it was unsucsessful. They sent me a pack which then asked for a cheque for Ј10 made out to egg to start the process.
I then didn't hear anything for 12 weeks, when I heard from a company called Redress claims who said they were acting on my behalf and that Egg had said there were no unfair charges to repay, I phoned them and was told that this was just the first step, 2 weeks later I recieved a letter from Egg saying that I would be reunded Ј49.61 for PPI, this was followed by a phone call from Redress claims saying that their fee for this was Ј100 but as the refund was less than that I should send them a cheque for Ј49.61.
I told them that I had already paid Ј285 and that I had not asked them to try to claim either unfair charges or PPI, I was told that this is just the way the system work and that what I had paid was only for the loan cancelleation not PPI, In August 2010 I recieved a letter demanding a cheque for Ј 49.61 and thretening legal action, I paid up. I then heard nothing so in November I phoned to ask what was happening, I was told that it was with the solicitors and could take a few months, i said the whole process was only suposed to take 12 weeks, she said I wish they wouldn't say that it's should say it takes 12 weeks to start the process. I still hadn't heard anythig by feb 2011 so I called again and was told that it had failed and they were going to send me a letter, I asked for my money back but was told that they were going to try something else and I would be getting a letter. 3 weeks later I recieved a letter from Credit Clear services saying I should fill in and return a form within 28 days or they would close my file, when I looked at the T&C this would mean that I had defaulted and they would owe me nothing. I filled in the form, I have tried calling several times but can not get through on the number. This week I have recieved a letter from Nottingham Watson, insolvency practitioners stating that Total refund had gone into liquidation on 5th August and as I had paid by credit card I should try to claim this back from my card.
Can I claim this back from my card? the paymeny was made over a year ago and not to the company who have gone into recievership.
Is Cancel your loan still operating and do I have any chance of getting my money back?
  • redress claims have just got me 3,723.15 ppi back it has took me a year to get it back it and me constantly phoning them as they have never wrote or telephoned once in a year, yet today i got a telephone call from them telling me two days ago they accepted the offer of 3,723.15 and they have wrote to the bank telling them this and i will have a cheque in the next 3 weeks and could i pay 1,116.95 today.i explained i dont have that money until i get my check then i was told if i dont pay today their collections will keep telephoning me,i have never even had an invoice from them.
please do not use this company there are rubbish !
  • I was cold called by this company (Redress Claims) and despite their claims of claiming back 'thousands of pounds' seeming to good to be true, I fell for it and told them my card numbers. I wouldn't have done this but seeing them registered on the Ministry of Justice site gave them a certain credibility. Within an hour though, after further checking up I realised I'd made an error of judgement and telephoned to cancel and get back monies taken from 2 credit cards Ј1180.00. After a fortnight of phone calls, registered letters, and e-mails and getting ignored. I contacted my card suppliers who not surprisingly had had previous dealings with Redress. They took my case on and within a week had refunded all monies to my account. On no account must you sign anything Redress send to you in the post. It might be worth complaining to the Department of Justice too for allowing any pratt to get licensed and registered for less than Ј1000....Stay safe.
  • Hi,
I am a new poster , but felt I had to share my experience of this bunch of clowns also. I have been gullible enough to hand over 299 on my debit card for them to pursue a claim for unenforceable credit relating to one of my credit cards. To cut a long story short , the claim has stalled, they ve kept my deposit and i ve been given various excuses as to why my claim has so far taken 16 months with no contact or progress. I was offered a refund of my deposit, but have had numerous excuses since as to why this has not materialised. On speaking to the 'complaints manager' , (who i would guess has an unmanageable workload) I was again fobbed off on the phone , and so am reporting this bunch of idiots to the Ministry of Justice. I have learnt a lesson and hope that other people are more sensible than I was and give them a very wide berth....SCAMMERS
