A question about : Recycling Ink Cartridges .. Where?

Hi

This is the first time i've been on the G&EM's board .. Didn't even realise MSE had one! Hello ... title=Wave

Up until recently i have sold all my old HP printer cartridges on eBay. I have now realised tho' that as my printer is so 'old', they are no longer salable.

I have therefore looked into finding where else i can recycle them responsibly .. There is no cash incentive in them as they are only worth around 10p each, so not an issue of who pays the most .. However i wished to send them to a 'reputable' recycler, but i am struggling to find a site that looks genuine .. Some offer free returns .. some don't .. Some offer cash if you add an account number to the label - then don't supply an account number!

Wondered if anyone could supply the address of a decent one that does what it says ? title=Embarrassment

Best answers:

  • At work we use these: https://www.tommys.org/recycle
  • That looks a great one .. thank you!
.... Oh dear ... just checked and they don't accept my cartridges ... boo!
  • You can get up to 100 clubcard points or donate to charity when you recycle your ink cartridges with Tesco, although they only accept certain types if you're looking for the points. You can normally find an envelope in store.
  • Hi Everyone
Seems the coin people have gone into Administration
I was looking for somewhere to recycle HP 350/351 standard & XL as no longer on Tesco/The Recycle Factory list.
More a planet/charitable thing really rather than on my 2015 hitlist for income generating.
    Any info very welcome
  • thanks for the info people, love it will recycle mine now, I have so many at home.
  • Another option is refilling them yourself. I've done this for years with many printers, both inkjet and laser. The cartridges eventually have to be thrown out, but most models can manage a few refills.
  • I send mine off to the Red Cross - they provide freepost envelopes. (sorry I can't do a link).
  • Another possible idea
