A question about : Race For Life 2008!

Unfortunately cancer is in most families. Cancer Research Uk are an excellent charity. https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/

My cousin was 18 when diagnosed & recently he was given the all clear, after spending a long time battling Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is now aged 23 & at Uni.

Both my grandparents died of cancer.

I am not a fit person, but I hope to run some of the distance, if not all of it, who knows!

If you would like to donate or better still do it with me the details are below:

So far Three people are doing the Race with me!

Best answers:

  • Good luck to all taking part in this year's Race For Life. I'm doing the one in Eastbourne in June. Racing in memory of my Grandad and my Great-Auntie who were very important people in my life and who I miss very much.
Like isualive, I'm also looking for some support. If you feel you could help here's the link

    Thank you
  • Great causes. I am sponsoring someone at work. Wish you luck though.
    All the best.
  • A very sad time for you all, isualive and having lost my own FIL to the same evil disease, I completely understand what it's doing to you all and what you're all going through. Be strong for him and I hope he enjoys as many good times as possible until the good Lord calls him.
Good luck isualive, you too scuzz, unfortunately I can't (at the moment) sponsor you both but have chosen to go with isualive as your FIL is the same age as me!
All the very best and I hope the run/walking goes well for you both.
    Sue.
  • Thankyou so much Sue-UU for your very kind donation, it is really appreciated!
Good luck to everyone else who is taking part in the Race For Life!
  • I'm doing my second Race for Life this year in Edinburgh. I'm running in memory of my lovely uncle and granma. My 9 year old dd is taking part too. So I'm going to be really cheeky and ask any generous MSE'rs to consider sponsoring me (or someone else who's running, its all going to the same place! )
(Edit: changed my mind about adding my link, as it has family info on it )
  • Many thanks Wurzelsar & Nytehawk for your very generous donations!
  • Good luck isualive, scuzz and threadhead! I am taking part for the third time this year, would anyone mind if I add my justgiving page here??
going to struggle with fundraising this year as I am also doing another charity event for the NAS, feels like Im forever asking friends and family to sponsor me!!
  • Same here, go for it, add your link!
  • Thanks isualive!
I see your race is a week before mine! good luck with the training, are you planning on running or walking?
  • I hope to run as much as I can, who knows, might even run it all!
I haven't worked out a training schedule yet, but my 16 stone sister in law is doing it with me!
  • I have planned on running the last 2 but havent quite made it lol! did do quite well last year though. This year I am hoping to be fit enough to run it, well thats the plan, I need to be fit for my trek in Peru for the NAS so hopefully if I can do that I should be able to run the 5km!
  • Wow a trek in Peru, for the NAS, what an excellent charity. Not many support it. Good on you, my 13 yr old son has a form of autism.
  • I hope nobody is trying to sponsor us today, as the links haven't worked for hours!
  • thanks, a daughter of my friend was diagnosed autistic last summer so decided to do something to raise money for them. If you want to take a look I have started a blog, pm me if you want the details, not sure if I can post the link here?
  • I don't know about links either.
    I will PM you!
  • Good luck to everyone who is taking part in the Race for Life 2008. I did my first one last year, ended up walking it as my friend had back problems and could not run but we did it!
I am doing the race in memory of my aunt who passed away 18 months ago she was in her 80s but unfortunately had cancer 3 times in her lifetime. Her daughter and grandaughter have also been diagnosed with breast cancer so also doing the race from them they are such an inspiration.
I now have my fundraising page sorted, if there is anyone who is not already sponsoring a friend or relative in the race for life and you would like to sponsor me my page is
    https://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/angelamuir
Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to sponsor me
  • No sponsors online again, as the fundraising links are still down!
    Thanks Sue-UU for your reply!
  • Thanks for your reply Sue, I have put my NAS justgiving page in my profile, will see about putting my race for life one in there too
    Good luck Engadine
