PS4 v xbox one

A question about : PS4 v xbox one

I use to be a bit of a gamer back in the day of segas and nintendos.

I want to start gaming again as I use to find it a good stress reliever. I am currently considering a ps4, xbox 1 and pc.

which is best and why?

• It really depends what you want it for, as consoles aren't just for games these days.. I have both, and I'll give you the pro's and con's.. I'm ignoring PC simply because the cost of a Gaming PC being a barrier to entry..
  PS4 - Purely for gaming, it beats out the XB1 by a decent margin.. Games run smoother, at a better resolution, and at a higher frame rate.. Anything cross platform, I'll always buy for the PS4 because quite frankly, it simply looks better on there than it does on the XB1. There's also PS+.. Sony have just started adding AAA titles to the library for PS4, so every month, you'll get a new-ish game for free, which is a huge bonus over the trash that Microsoft give away with Gold. This month, it's Injustice: Gods Amongst Us, and next month it's InFamous: First Light - Both fantastic games that are less than 12 months old.. So if you primarily want to play games, and occasionally watch a Blu-Ray or Netflix, I'd say go for the PS4, it's just a better gaming platform..
  XB1 - For all it's faults as far as actual gaming goes, I actually prefer my XB1. It's just a well rounded package. I walk in to my living room, say "XBox On" and it not only turns it's self on, but the TV, the Surround Sound, the Sky box, and goes directly to my favourite channel. The TV guide is voice controlled, as is the volume, and every other conceivable option. It works too, no messing around. The Sky box plugs directly into the back of the XB1 making it a fully functioning media centre. I watch all my films, TV, streaming etc through the XB1, and it's genuinely a joy to use.. For me personally, the XB1 has the better selection of exclusive titles too, so I have Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2, Ryse, Dead Rising etc on this console, and just the cross platform titles and exclusives on the PS4. The controller is better too, feels more solid, better made, and more ergonomically laid out. Having said that, I still do most of my actual gaming on the PS4 due to the performance issues of the XB1. XBL Gold is around Ј15 a year cheaper than PS+, but in truth, PS+ is actually better value at the moment. Give it another 12 months, and Microsoft may catch up a little. Worth mentioning that you can subscribe to EA Access on XB1 too, but not on PS4. It's a bit of a bargain for access to the EA back catalogue, so another little plus for the XB1.
  All in all, it's a personal preference thing. I do most of my gaming on the PS4, but I use the XB1 more on a daily basis. The XB1 is more intuitive and well rounded, but the PS4 is a neater console and more powerful. Swings and roundabouts. PS4 deals are pretty decent at the moment - Console with GTAV, FC4 and TLOU: Remastered for Ј349 at Argos is awesome value. XB1's can be picked up cheaper, but only without Kinect, which limits the XB1's effectiveness.. Meh, make your choice. I'd recommend both, but for different reasons.. Hope that helps
• A cheaper option is to consider the PS3 or the Xbox 360, there's a massive back catalogue of games for both. Both consoles can now be picked up quite cheap eg the 360 can be got from Argos for Ј200 with forza and halo games.
• P.S4 without a doubt.
  The controller is better, it looks nicer, it runs, updates and downloads better, and Playstation network is better value than X-box live.
  There is a reason that P.S4 is the U.K's number one selling gaming console
• The simple answer is none of them are the best, they all have advantages and disadvantages so it's a case of choosing what suits you best. My main gaming platform is the PC as it has a huge variety of games many of which can be bought cheap in the Steam sales or from humble bundles and it has by far the best performance. Over the last few years the usability has massively increased so the Xbox 360 controller is now natively supported, updates are handled seemlessly (far better than any of the current consoles) and the games are usually good for choosing which settings match your hardware.
  Between the Xbox One and PS4 it depends on what games you're more interested in although I don't think either are great choices at the moment as they lack games, they're expensive and so are their accessories plus they're not as much of an upgrade as I'd have expected compared to the PS3/360. I have an Xbox One simply for the reason I wanted to play Halo and Forza plus the people I play online with opted for the Xbox One, if I wanted to play The Last of Us and Driveclub plus had friends online with PS4's, I wouldn't have hesitated to go for the PS4 instead.

• I had the PS3 and 360 and from those, i liked the 360 more for games.
  I got back into my PC gaming a while back though and i use this is my main platform. It's a decent gaming tower i use so even though i have a PS4 just now as well, the graphics and sound quality on the PC are miles better. The jump in quality from PS3 to PS4 is about the same as PS4 to PC.
  The initial cost on buying the PC is more but no monthly fees just to play online, and many more bargains to be had. I picked up GTA5 on my pS4 and it was Ј40 (still cheaper than most places)
  On the PC it's Ј22 pre-ordered last i checked.
  I've a wireless 360 controller linked to the PC that works flawlessly and for most games all the buttons and stuff are set automatically.
  I picked up the PS4 about 2 weeks ago and i think i've played it a total of about 1 hour since.
  Between the PS4 and Xbox One, both have pros and cons to be honest.
  The PS4 has the best gaming hardware, but some of the multimedia settings on the Xbox One are better as well as some of the exlusives.
• For the casual gamer and above the total cost of ownership of a PC tends to be lower. You don't need to spend Ј2000 on one. If you use your tv as a display you can put together a PC that easily outperforms both consoles for Ј400.
  It's up to you though. If you prefer console gaming then get the console that has the exclusive games you want. Other than that there's not much to call between them.
• It also depends what games you want to play. PC's are better at some games, and certain genres you wont find on consoles.
  And each console has their exclusives that you wont find on the other platforms.
  A Gaming PC doesn't have to be expensive. And if you already have a pc you use for other things, you could simply added a new GPU to upgrade it to a gaming pc.
  you could even get a cheap pc with a decent onboard gpu, like the AMD APU's. then upgrade to a better GPU later on.
  Christmas is a good time to get into PC gaming, as you have the Steam sales where you will be a load of decent games for next to nothing
• Another thing you may need to consider is which consoles your friends have. Both ps4 and xbox 1 have the ability to let you play games online. My son and his friends got their heads together last year when the consoles were released and all went for ps4 so they could play against each other. You can't play against a friend who has the other type of console.
