A question about : Ps4 and Xbox one touts

Wonder how many ps4 and xboxes we will be seeing on eBay selling for 4 or 5 times the rrp value I think when the Nintendo wii was first released there was a huge shortage some consoles were goin for over a grand

Best answers:

  • The rip off has already started..

And this is just taking the biscuit..

    Disgusting.
  • Had a colleague at work who sold a couple of wiis on ebay. She certainly wasn't someone short of money either. She went down in my estimation when she told me.
Also, I didn't think you were allowed to sell an item on ebay if you didn't physically have it. I'd report them but my damn tablet is playing up.
  • I'm getting mine for Ј230 after vouchers, very tempting to sell for Ј500. You can't blame people for wanting to make money, it's supply and demand.
  • I just hope there are enough units so I can the ps4 in the first couple of weeks..
  • With things like this I don't see how touts can actually function to be honest, there has been hype around next gen consoles for months, if someone wanted one I'd have thought they'd preorder it. You could even do what I did and preorder for free from Amazon and then decide nearer the time if you can afford it.
It's not like gig tickets where they're limited and people exploit a bands popularlity to make money off fans who weren't lucky enough to get tickets because they sell out so quickly. There will be more consoles and if someone is both foolish enough not to preorder yet impatient enough to not wait a month, and also affluent enough to pay the mark up then so be it
  • How are they touts? These are just Joe and Jane Bloggs selling on some unwanted goods.
Despite the demand now, a few months ago it was very easy to pre-order either console for a small sum for guaranteed day 1 delivery. The only people stupid enough to pay these inflated prices are either too rich to care or have simple no patience for waiting.
  • My work neighbour imported his Wii from Germany, it was a very popular route at the time as a couple people I know did the same.
Its always the same with new consoles - fever pitch demand right before release then its BAU a few months on.
  • I dont think i will rise in price this time round.... I playing GTA V still plenty to do on it to archive 100% completion.. and GT6 out soon and these will not be on PS4 I have Fifa 14 but why would i want to pay for that again... Also spending hours on BF4 on PC at the moment so not fuss with the PS4 will prob buy it in a few years when PS3 finally die out....
  • as a previous poster said these consoles where very VERY easy to go into your local store and reserve one for as little as Ј20 to be guaranteed on release date.
Anyone who has the sense to reserve 2 sell on for twice the price and get their one for free is a money saving expert in my view.
you don`t say anything about Sony or Microsoft charging 4 to Ј500 per console which probably cost under Ј150 or less to build anyway.
If people have not got the sense to reserve something they really cannot wait for and they are so impatient for it they will pay twice the normal price that is their issue.
If they had patience about a day or two after release they can walk into a shop and buy one there and then same as i-pad when that gets released you will see cues of people everywhere yet the day after you can walk in grab one pay and go without all the agrovation.
too many people are like sheep follow the crowd follow the crowd ...over that cliff... ah whoops should not of followed
  • I noticed asda were taking pre orders for 1 of the consoles, just needed Ј20.
  • I passed a Game store earlier with an A-board near the door suggesting you could get either new console on launch door with pre-ordering.
Thought they were only guaranteed for Christmas now.
  • It's nothing new. I remember doing something similar with the PS2 slim!
  • What the components 'cost' is only part of it - what about the R&D & IP work that goes into developing the system.
