A question about : Problems with BA
I was caught up in the ash cloud chaos back in April. My return flight with BA from Florence was cancelled. I could not get through to BA by telephone so made my own way back to the UK. I have written to BA asking for payment of my travel expenses incurred. BA have repaid the cost of my return flight and have written to say they are sending a cheque for the cost I incurred for an extra night in my hotel and food expenses. They have not acknowldeged at all in the letter the money I had to pay to get a car to drive to France or the ferry crossing. All reference to this part of my claim has been ignored. My insurance company want nothing to do with my claim either. Is there any other way I can claim this additional expense back from BA? I have yet to contact them regarding their letter as I want to know what my rights are before I make that call.
Best answers:
- BA will only refund you the airfare if you decided to make your own way home. They will not pay any extra costs incurred for travelling.
