  • Hi BaggyBoy, start with a statement of affairs and list your income and outgoings and your assets and debts, then the smart people will be along to point you in the right direction.
Any debt problems can be solved with the right plan of action and advice, so don't despair or feel alone, you are not alone, by posting you have become part of a supportive community.

  • Hi moohound
Thank you for your swift reply.
But I have no idea how to get all the data I need to complete the SOA. I am very scared, too scared, to contact the people I owe money to.
But I will try my best.
    Thanks
  • Why not just make a start with the figures that you can easily get, such as your salary, regular bill payments etc? Better than nothing!
Have you spoken to one of the free debt charities such as Stepchange or the CAB?
    Take care x
  • Get hold of your statutory credit reports from Experian, Equifax and Call Credit. They will show who you owe money to and give you an idea of how much. You'll also be able to see any defaults and CCJs that you may have.
  • Don't be afraid to call the companies. Try to have a look through and see who you are paying the most interest to and put you money toward that card/debt.
The SOA looks baffling but try to do one and I know the people on here will help you out.
Nothing is as bad as it seems. There is a way to get this sorted.
  • Thank you to everyone who replied to me.
I contacted Step change yesterday and the person I spoke to was very helpful and understanding and I didn't feel judged at all which was nice.
I'm now preparing my SOA to give them but I havn't got the courage to look at my credit file yet. They told me I can see it for free at noddle.co.uk
One step at a time I guess.
  • Take your head out of the sand. First step is acceptance, there are options available whether your debt be Ј1k or 50k but you can't investigate any of them without first knowing whom to and how much you owe
