A question about : Plastering and decorating quote

Afternoon all, first post here...

I received the following quote for some plastering/painting work I need doing on an average sized 3 bedroom house:

Living room (through-lounge):
Plaster over artex ceiling (really two ceilings as it's a through-lounge).
Re-plaster remaining part of wall that separated front/rear receptions when through-lounge was created.
Paint walls/ceilings/woodwork (door and skirting boards).
Install wooden/laminate flooring (I will supply materials).

Hall / Landing:
Plaster over artex ceiling - upstairs and downstairs.
Paint walls/ceilings/woodwork (door, skirting boards, bannister).
Install wooden/laminate flooring (I will supply materials).

Bedroom 1:
Plaster over artex ceiling.
Paint walls/ceilings/woodwork (door and skirting boards).

Bedroom 2:
Make good ceiling/walls.
Paint walls/ceilings/woodwork (door and skirting boards).

Bedroom 3 (box room):
Re-plaster two walls and ceiling.
Paint walls/ceilings/woodwork (door and skirting boards).

Also, I've just had a full rewire done (excluding kitchen and bathroom) so the house is full of chases. The quote includes plastering/making good approximately 16 plug socket chases (skirting boards to about a foot high) and 5 switch drop chases (light switch height to up to ceiling).

Price (London)... Ј2750.

Quote includes all materials (plaster, white emulsion and gloss for ceilings and woodwork). I will have to supply the paint for walls only and the wooden flooring.

So in a nutshell.. it's a full re-paint (excluding kitchen and bathroom), plus plastering as per the above and installing wooden flooring in through-lounge and downstairs hallway.

To my 'new home owner' brain that seems quite reasonable. Thoughts??

• Bags of plaster maybe around Ј10- Ј15- not checked x approx. 10-15 maybe so around Ј100 - Ј225.00, Paint approx. Ј15- for a decent gloss depending on how much needed maybe around 5-8 tins Ј120.00 and then emulsion can be quite cheap around Ј12.00 for a tub and maybe around 6-8 tubs needed Ј96.00 - Ј130.00
  Probably up to around Ј500.00 in materials or so and then Ј2250.00 in labour, I reckon a good 7 days or so and if the plasterer is a good one then for me Ј2000 - Ј2250 would not be an issue to pay and have the work listed above done.
  Don't forget pay peanuts and get monkeys so it is your call either check his quote against another and compare them both and try to barter between them or just go for it.

• Oh and I could be confusing plastering with skimming... if there's a difference???
  Basically there'll be no mass knocking back to brick, he'll be applying to mainly to sound plaster, obviously knocking away anything loose.
• Skimming is just going over the top and less work plus less materials required as opposed to taking it back to brickwork, Still for me a couple of grand to get it all done does not seem that expensive, Maybe others will say it is but again a good plasterer is worth the additional costs for a decent finish.
• I suggest you pay in stages and say you are limited to what you an take out, Check this prior to him starting, As for it falling off as long as he uni-bonds the walls first then it should be fine.
