A question about : order for possession

I've lived in my rented property for over 6 months two weeks ago i received a letter as occupier informing me that the owner of the property had been taken to to the local county court and a judgement had been issued. I rang my housing agent who i pay my rent to and she knew nothing of this. She's tried to get in touch with the landlord without success. I've since heard nothing from the letting agency but i have contacted the solicitors that sent the letter. They have kept me informed and told me i would be given time to find alternative housing they have even contacted the new owners to ask if i could sign a new lease. But they haven't replied.

Could someone please explain what legal process a possession order takes how long should it take and should trust the solicitors that are working for the new owner and will i be informed if any legal proceedings happen ?

  • Are you a private tenant? How long was your tenancy agreement for- are you now in a periodic/rolling monthly tenancy where the landlord has to give 2 months notice?
