A question about : Orange Mobile Savings
Before I visited this website I thought I had done well in saving money on my ORANGE and landline phone bills as follows:
1. Ditched the landline!
2. Used an overrider (First Telecom) to make all my calls.
3. Used the Open Access Pack (Ј4/month) for unlimited Internet access with no usage charge!
4. Used BT WAP site for free directory enquiry services.
5. I changed tariffs (for one month) when contract was due for renewal in order to get Internet-enabled SPV E200 for free - an the Orange shop paid me Ј30 for old phone!
6. Used my Orange OVP (virgin) to access voicemail on any other Orange contract phone number for free!
However, I have now made further savings after reading Martin's articles and postings by others on the Telephone Forum as follows:
1. Switched my overrider to 18866 (about 1/4 of the price of First Telecom)
2. Signed up for One-Tel (for free) and so get their free Directory Enquiry service (118111) on both landline and mobile. They even sent a free routing box (that I don't use).
3. Switched to the ORANGE data-only package (just Ј10/month) instead of otherwise cheapest contract of Ј15/month.
IN SUMMARY:
1. I now pay ORANGE Ј10/month for rental, Ј4/month for unlimited Internet access and nothing for calls!
2. I pay nothing to One-Tel and get a 118 Directory Enquiry service for free!
3. I pay 18866 for all my calls as they are the cheapest on the market I think!
4. All my voice mail retrieval is free!
5. I have no landline so pay no landline rental!
Can anyone beat that?

- You can only get the Ј4/month Internet access if you have the OPEN ACCESS pack.
The Open Access pack is no longer available, having been replaced by the ORANGE WORLD ACCESS, which does not allow unlimited usage, unfortunately.
