A question about : Old Natwest debt

Hi all, I have an old debt with Natwest which I remember I was once a couple of quid overdrawn and after not touching the account for a while I had accumulated bank charges of over Ј700, I remember several years ago while that account was still open I talked with the bank manager in December who said my only option was to pay half within 4 weeks, since Christmas was coming up and the fact I don't agree to even half of that I had to reject this option and they eventually closed my account, I have heard no more from them but they are still on my credit account,

I'm worried about getting in contact to see what can be done incase they start hounding me for the money, and my question is couldn't i reclaim the charges back somehow even tho the account is closed, as far as I'm aware I can't remember any details of the account and like I've said I haven't had any contact for at least 5 years
