Anyone going to be taking part in 2007? I did my first one this year as I lost my mum to lung cancer in sept 05 and will be definately doing it again..
Anyone else?

Best answers:

  • wanted to do one this year cant remember if it was race for life but it was women only which annoyed the hell out of me so didnt do it
was this race for life? is it women only?
  • Yes.. I'll done it this year.. and will defo do it in 2007, it will help me keep motiviated to kit abit fit!!!
  • I do it in 2006 and will be doing it all again next year, what a great evening we had!
ours had women, teams, families..................all in pink!
  • I will be doing it, I do it most years
  • Many, many, many thanks for every one that has entered race 4 life.
But did you know that from now on it will be even harder to enter & if the current trend continues the registration will go up with no more money going too the good cause!
May I suggest that instead of you entering individually you seek out a mutual regional site! & enter as a martin’s money team region? E.g. England north, south, Scotland, Wails, Island, North, South

  • my dd and i did it this year, but Race of Life have phoned me at least a dozen times in the last fortnight, i have been at work , does anyone know why they are ringing. if it is to see if we are interested in next year could they not just e mail me ?
  • they probably are ringing to encourage you to do it again this year. I'm not sure, but I'd love to find out! have you let them know you'd rather be contacted by email? I'd imagine that they prefer to talk to people, as it's more likely that they'd take part, and it's good to talk (as Bob used to say). There's a host of possible reasions, which is why I'd love to find out why.

  • gib, found out what they wanted, they are contacting everyone one who ran, and are asking you to sign up for a direct debit payment for breast cancer.
  • I will be running again in 2007 - am going to try to get a team together with all my Ann Summers girls.
  • Thanks for letting me know. I wondered if it was something like that.

  • A friend did it last year, I was so proud of her... so I am planning to have a go this year (very unfit....) but training now with lots of walking!
  • I've done it the last two years. I lost my great auntie to cancer of the blood, and my grandad to cancer.
Last year I shaved 5 minutes off my time, and looking to improve on that this year
Good luck to everyone taking part
  • I'm running it for the first time this year. Dad was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas and I lost my wonderful aunty to breast cancer a few years ago. I too am classed as obese but a healthy life is one of the best ways of reducing your chances of getting cancer. I'm kicking off with getting fit for the Race for Life!
Good luck everyone who is taking part.
  • Yeah I m, never done it before!!!! I can't even run far!!! So training starts Monday. Got 4 months to be able to run 10k!! Any advice?
  • Who are you running it for? They should have some training plans. EG. Start off by twice or 3 times a week going out for a walk for an hour. Next week, the same but walk one minute run one minute, then build up.
NB. I have NO medical training or running experience, it's just what I've seen suggested for others. First find out if there are training plans.
