A question about : nPower refuses to comply with ombudsman's ruling

For the past 8 months I've been trying to sort out my mum's nPower account. I had no success with nPower so went to the ombudsman last year, who ruled that nPower had to take certain steps to resolve the issue. nPower has refused to comply, and the ombudsman will not reply to my letters because the case is closed. What do I do? How do I complain about the ombudsman?

Best answers:

  • What was the end result?
  • In summary, npower can do what they want, any no-one can do anything about it. They are a law unto themselves, in other words.
  • For 19 months I have had no bills or gas account with power since changing the meters. My currant electric tarrif is ending. I ave a massive credit on my electric account of over Ј1,000. They will not give it me back because they have not billed me for gas. I have been chasing this problem for 19 months now with loads of complaints. Ombudsman won't do anything coz complaint is over 9 months old. I have tried to switch to a new tarrif, but keeps getting cancelled coz they can't set up gas direct debit and tell me I have to go on a standard tarrif. No bloody way am I doing that. What can I do to sort it out and get my credit back. It's going to cost me way more to be on a standard tarrif through no fault of my own
  • Npower are getting some excellent feedback from some extremely happy and satisfied customers. One happy lady I spoke to last week in Goole was overjoyed when Npower scrubbed almost 2 years of electric bills after they failed to bill her. Shes going to have a trial with Scot Power now as they re the new kid on the block when it comes to poor service, hoping for a similar mess up...I ve got this feeling though that when Npower delete all these bills that they don t actually lose a penny and it all go s into the same pot as all the missing energy from things such as bypassing theft, pro renter fiddles, backward running meters from solar panel, blank screens, stopped meters and expect the rest of us to pay for it . If Npower had to make good back to the Grid all this free energy then there would be the "big five " now and they d be bust. The boss of EDF has predicted last year that Npower would be going down anyway and having to join Eon to survive.
