A question about : ATB cashpoints which offer Euro withdrawal
I have seen quite a few of these appearing over the past year or so. Has anyone used them? I would just like to know how much it costs to buy Euros in this way compared to other ways.
Best answers:
- Don't know about ATB but all the Euro cashpoints I've seen in the UK offer appalling rates. Worse than the high street. The ones I've seen gave the rate on the screen or at the side, so you don't need to put the card in to see the rate.
Apparently there are some in London where your card gets charged in EUR so ideal if you have a Clarity etc, but most of them charge you in GBP at a rubbish rate. - There used to be a Natwest one on Bishopsgate that did what you wanted, but I think it may have vanished.
I think the Raphael's Bank EUR ATMs will charge in EUR if it's an EUR-denominated card, but a Halifax Clarity would, I think, be charged in GBP and converted to EUR at a bad rate.
Unless you can find one that actually charges your account in EUR and doesn't impose any fee, it's not going to be a good rate.
