A question about : No refund or amendment of cross country e-ticket?
Hi all,
I stupidly got my dates muddled and bought a ticket for travel on friday instead of tuesday this week
cross country are saying i cannot amend or cancel booking, this is Ј40 down the drain i can ill afford, they say this is because I chose the e-ticket method
is there anything I can do? it seems really wrong
Thanks
Nick
Best answers:
- i agree, should this not be made clear on booking? i certainly would not have got an e-ticket if i knew this to be the case - the website steers you to get one!
there really is nothing I can do?
Thanks - It will be in the T&Cs you agreed to at the time of purchase, if not you may have cause for complaint but I can't see that being the case.
T&Cs are there to be read, admitteldy I imagine very few people do but that's not Cross Country's issue. - Even if you'd bought a conventional paper ticket, they're still not always refundable-it depends on the type of ticket.
- It's not exactly hidden away in the T&Cs. On CrossCountry's site when you get to the stage to choose delivery method (e-ticket, 1st class, machine collect etc.) right next to the "Print your own ticket" option it clearly says:
"One of the accepted forms of identification shown below must be taken when travelling on your journey to validate the ticket.
Print your own tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable." - I have consistently advised against e-tickets, including P@H tickets, for these reasons.
A paper ticket can be amended to a different date, for a Ј10 fee.
What's the journey?
Most CrossCountry long distance journeys can be reduced in price by "splitting", ie using a combination of cheaper short distance tickets. This is because CrossCountry charge a premium for longer distance passengers, who are seen as a cash cow.
