A question about : Contract issues
Hello I'm hoping someone here would be able to give me some advice.
I applied for a higher position within my company in September last year, this was advertised as a full time contract. I attended the interview and was successful.
I signed a temporary full time contact (38.75 hours a week). The store manager explained to me it was a probationary period to see how I would work in the role and if I was fine after the 3 months I would be offered the same contact on a permanent basis. I was fine with this as I didn't anticipate there being any problems as I'm confident in my work.
Sadly the Store Manager left to manage another store and a replacement has come in since then, She is happy with my work and my probation period ended January 31st, but she is now claiming that the company doesn't take on people with my job description on a full time basis any more. She has to speak to the area manager to see if it can be changed but it has been several weeks now and I want to know what is going on.
My question is, can they suddenly change the length of the contract? If it was advertised as part time I wouldn't have spent the time and energy going through training and the probationary period as I need full time work for financial security.
Any advice would be awesome.
