A question about : Newbie...bank account opening
Hi and thanks for reading...
I had a Dro that came to an end may last year. I was married and never then required to have my own bank account(in my name) , used husbands cards etc, just used his account as both of ours, I'm not working so was never a problem. so for the last 8 months plus the 12 months of the Dro ive had no personal bank account. My marriage sadly has come to a end and I'm obviously now finding myself about to be on my own, I read that co-op bank and Barclays are the best option as I only require a basic account, debit card, direct debit option etc...my question is am I going to have issues as I've had no active account for so long? Plus do I declare there and then...planning on going to banks tomorrow. Thanks for advice in advance.
Best answers:
- So long as you've got photo ID and proof of address then you should have no problem opening an account.
I'd be open with them from the start about any money concerns as it's better that than having them force your account into closure down the line.
I still remember going into co-op to ask for a Cashminder account and explaining that I was going down the IVA route. Best thing I ever did.
