A question about : National Insurance

Hi,

Im not sure if this is the right forum.

I am charged NI at a rate of 12% but can you tell me how to work it out as in 12% Of what.

if i do 12% of my gross Pay from last month it does not give me the same figure that is on my pay slip.

• It's 12% on any amount over Ј663 per month (Ј153 per week).
  Eg you earn Ј1000 for one month, you'd pay NI of Ј40.44 (Ј1000 - Ј663 x 12%)
  Rates change again if you earn more than Ј3336 per month.
