A question about : [National Express]bought a ticket in advance but there was no seat.

I bought a ticket from Sutton to Gatwick airport through Post Office. Due to my flight schedule, It was 03:06 am coach-No. A3.

The coach arrived about 20 mins later and the driver refused to take me because there was no seat. He said it has overbooked. His attitude was like[I wish you were not there]. Ha ha ha.

When I called the customer service, the CS said I have to wait for the next one which was due to arrive at 04:10am, which arrived at 04:20. They refused to call a taxi saying it would take more than 40 mins. Then they could arranged it at 02:30 when they depart from Victoria. They didn't because they did want to save the cost.

So I had to be on the street in the early morning for 1 and half hours in the dark and all alone.

The CS promised me to call to discuss about the refund when my return but they did not.

Horrible service.

I made a complaint through their website.
They never said Sorry. Jut lecturing me about their stupid policy.

I refused 50% voucher offered and got full refund.

I will never use the National Express again.

  • Firstly you didn't just wake up and decided you wanted to go to Gatwick so why didn't you book your ticket on line throu the national express website in advance rather than it appears 20 mins prior to you wanting to go throu a third party. I use the national express a lot from where I live into London and have never seen any real problems apart from once the coach driver reversed into someone's car and it transpired that the owner was taking his daughter to Heathrow and his car was un drivable The coach in question was ok and when he asked the coach driver if they could take his daughter to London they agreed .........and then promptly charged them Ј30 plus even thou there were many empty seats on the coach. when we got to Victoria I went to see the CS etc and said that i along with others thought the coach driver was out of order in charging the girl they agreed and funnily enough I've not seen the driver concerned since. the funniest thing is when I get the last bus out of London at midnight the number of people you seeing running after the bus is hilarious they got a long night in front of them because once that bus has moved from its spot on Victoria coach station they will NOT open the door I've even seen people standing in front of the bus but they will NOT let you on end of !!!
  • Muscle750s pointless ramble contributes nothing. Ignore this loon OP, sometimes we are afflicted by ejuts here and you seem to have been caught up by one of them.
  • muscle - I believe her post means the coach was twenty minutes late; not that she had brought the ticket only twenty minutes before.
Nevertheless, tickets sold via an agent should check back to a central booking database.
OP - that does sound like poor service and glad you got 100% refund (and that it sounds like you caught your flight)
