A question about : Music solutions for 12 year old son

12 year old son always been mad into music and has asked for something to play music in his room including MP3s. He already has a cheap CD player/radio and an Ipod shuffle. However he can't connect the two so he can't play MP3s on CD player. The CD player can play CDs burned with MP3s.

What would be a good cheap option? I expect he will want to put more music than his IPod shuffle can hold on shortly but not sure whether a bigger Ipod is worth at? Have Ipods had there day? No idea on this so apologies if it seems a silly question!

Best answers:

  • iPod touch has replaced iPod, so you might like to look at buying an iPod touch, if in budget, as then he can play games etc and connect to internet on WiFi. Or get an iPod Nano if you want bigger than shuffle but no internet/apps
    .
Most supermarkets sell cheap speaker docks, or double check if the CD player you have as a line in or AUX socket (would look like a headphone jack) as then you can just connect the headphones of iPod to the line in with this cable https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-35m...ble-075m-a88nu
  • If your CD player has phono inputs at the back, you might be able to connect them by these headphone to phono leads. I once used my CD Player as PC Speaker, using one of these.
    Something like this.
  • I suggest using DVD authoring software that helps burning mp3 to cd. So your DS can still use the CD player.
