A question about : MSE Pregnancy Club 21

This is a continuation of This thread which was closed due to it's length.

/Official MoneySavingExpert.com Insert:

What's it about?

Back in July 06 Bailey started this thread to help all pregnant MoneySavers and their partners save on anything pregnancy-related plus give each other moral support. It's been hugely popular and now has a long list of pregnant mothers-to-be. Now it's not just for those that are pregnant but also those trying to conceive and MoneySavers that have probably already given birth and yet are probably too tired to let everyone know.

What should you do?

As well as being a great source of tips, baby-related bargains spotted, mutual support and help MoneySavers here have also gradually built up a list, adding themselves to one of these categories (the last one, people are moved to for obvious reasons!):
EDD (Estimated due date if you're pregnant)
TTC (trying to conceive if you're not) we now have 2 seperate threads for people TTC - 'Trying for a Baby' and 'Trying for a baby (12+ M/not straightforward)'
Birth List
Probably given birth but too worn out to log on list
If you want to add yourself to the list follow these steps:
Click on the link at the top of this page that says Last (it'll take you to the last page of the discussion)
Scroll down until you find the message with the very latest copy of the list in (if you use one further up the discussion other peoples' changes after that will be lost)
Copy that (highlight it and click control+c)
Click reply at the bottom of the thread to open a screen where you can past it (click control+p)
Add yourself to the list then click save
And don't feel shy. Introduce yourself, say hello and ask a question if you need to.
Plus, if you're thinking of how to cut down on nappy costs remember to have a read of the Nappy MoneySaving article too and for later down the line if you need childcare first read the Childcare Vouchers article.

Also please don't forget that this is a public forum and anyone could be reading it. Don't let this put you off discussing anything personal, just please be aware that the people posting on the thread may not be the only ones reading (it may just be that these people, aka lurkers, are too shy to post). Now enjoy your pg natter title=Big

  • Ladies please remember the following rules
PERSONAL DETAILS AND THE OFFERING OF ITEMS FOR SALE/TRADE/EXCHANGE/SWAP/GIFTS

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.
If someone appears to be selling items on the board it may be deleted by the board guides/forum team. The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.
    MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
    CODES/VOUCHERS:
For legal reasons codes are only permitted on the Discount Codes n Vouchers (Online and Offline) Board and must be sourced and indicated who it refers to. If in doubt please read this and this for an explanation. Any posts not meeting these rules will be moved. Do not pm others requesting such codes
    FREE TO JOIN BABY CLUBS:
Tesco Baby Club - Free Pampers Hamper containing a few wipes, nappy sample, some Olay stuff. You need to buy a pack of Pampers to get it, and it's not stocked in every store so check before you set off.
Boots Parenting Club - Free changing bag when you buy a pack of nappies, I think it's Huggies but it might be Pampers. You need to wait for the voucher to arrive.
Sainsburys Little Ones - Free Mum and Baby bundle with toiletries, to be collected from store.
Emma's Diary - You should get the vouchers in the pack from your midwife but if you don't or you want more freebies you can also register and download them here. 3 bags containing lots of samples and a can of Peartiser.
Cow and Gate - You get a free cuddly cow but you need to find a code, these are normally in Parenting mags so either have a look in the shop or on the Discount Codes board.
Aptamil - Free cuddly polar bear.
Those are probably the main ones but have a look around as other places will send out vouchers, nappy samples etc. Also most of these will send you a voucher for money off nappies/wipes so keep an eye out for offers, I got 6 packs of Pampers Sensitive wipes for Ј1.66 with the Ј2 off voucher that came in my Bounty pack.
A more comprehensive list of freebies and vouchers is here.

  • Hi there, guess who cant sleep
Welcome to our new home. Over 9,000 posts on the last one!! We were the biggest active thread on the board! Woo hoo!
I have decided that for the last few weeks of being pg I will be sleeping downstairs as I give up with OH's snoring and DD's sleep talking. Now my only issues will be my pelvic pain and the cat going skittish.
Feeling bleurgh, off to hunt out the gastrocote and hope for the best (DD sleeps till 10 and so do I.... doubt it though lol).
ETA - silly tablets need forever to work, I think someone may be going for naps tomorrow. An why is it when I cant sleep everyone else can!! Hurumph!
See you guys at a more reasonable hour.
    x
  • Wow, shiny new thread!! Thanks tickle, hope you're fast asleep now and hope you manage to stay that way until 10 or even later
I've just looked at the calendar and realised my wriggly baby will probably be here in 2 months or so
Also (carried on from the last thread) about the price of the washing line fanta, but bet it will be fab, be great to have plenty of space to dry baby clothes!!
I checked last night and I've put on 2stone
Making me the heaviest I've ever been, so scary. I'm not even going to look at the charts but think this is about how much in total you're meant to put on in pregnancy, so not hugely pleased with myself. Having said that we have spent most of the last 3 months doing DIY every evening, I've felt bad going to the gym or anything and leaving OH working.
Have day off today to get more done onthe house, we are slowly starting to get there (note to any newer people, don't try and rennovate most of your house while pregnant, really not worth the hassle!!)
Dusty, hope you recovered from your dizzy spell.
Hope everyone else is fast asleep and busy growing babies . PC I'm very glad to heAr bubs has put so much weight on relatively, clever baby
    Xx
  • Morning ladies. Re weight gain. I'm 3lb short of putting on 2 stone at 35+4. I'm feeling huge, and paranoid that bubs is going to be huge with dd born at 9lb12.5oz, i'm sure you can understand why.
So glad its friday, just 2 more weeks at work. Love my job and only work for 1.5 hours but being on my feet with lots of children for that small amount of time is killing me.
Right, hoping for some more announcements today, so sending loads of labour vibes out xxx
  • Morning lady bumps
Welcomed to your new home, lol....this will be my home for the next 4 weeks (unless I go over) then I will have to leave as I am 36 weeks today ( at Hitchins)!!!!
Was up until 2am Tickle hunni sorry managed to get to sleep after that and slept til 7.30 so the sleeping is a little better but not much...
I have to go out today and it's really manky weather and I don't drive lol....might get a taxi although that would be really lazy as it will probably only take me 15 minutes at my snail pace to walk where I need to go......am thinking I may well see about calling in to the local pool today and getting some relief from this spd by taking the weight off...haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks but last time i did I had put on about a stone......
Labour vibes to those in need and big hugs all rounds xxxxxx
  • Thanks for the new thread tickle, I was thinking the other day how long the thread was.
I was wondering if we could have either a list or a link to the hospital bag list on the first page?
It's a common question and would be good to have it where we can check without asking it to be reposted.
    Dusty had a good one.
I had a rough night. Both kids were coughing all night and DD has a high temp again.
I need to go and see to the kids, will post later
  • Morning all x
Had a carp night myself, up and down with DD coughing, then ended up on sofa with a hot chocolate watching "Snapped Women who Kill".....no connection, so don't all be ringing the police!
RBG......wash your mouth out though, we don't wanna hear the words "go over" I'm convinced he'll be here end of month. You at MW next week hun? I'm there Thursday.
((HUGS)) to every one else who had little sleep.
  • Morning! (again)
Managed to sleep from 6am till 8am when DD decided it was time to get up, much better than her usual 7am wake up time lol.
Am off in search of a list for hospital bags as it is a very good idea
Should be back soon unless DD kidnaps me
  • Morning all, I made it onto the new thread
Having been constipated all week, I've gone the opposite way over the last 24 hours, really hoping that means something, but it may well be wishful thinking, as nothing else is happening. Baby is still pretty active.
Glad your consultant's appt went well Giz (well, glad there wasn't a problem - sounds like it was a bit of a waste of time)
RBG - go early all you want but NOT BEFORE ME!! Flower has full permission though if she's still around. I really hope she's busy with a new baby by now though.
  • Here is the hospital bag list courtesy of dustystar02

  • Morning all
Nice new thread - thank you tickle
Hope all you ladies that didn't get much sleep aren't too knackered
I'm off work again today so just dropped kids at school and going to get some housework done - yawn!
Managed to get my hair cut last night at the hairdressers las night so feeling a bit less bedraggled
    Catch up later x
  • Morning ladies. Im 20+6 today and boy am feeling naffed. Ive 2 children already a DD and DS and im having another DD
Did anyone please read my thread on Sainsburys on the older longer thread? and how do I add my due date on 18th June please?
    Many Thanks
  • Good morning ladies
Wow - new thread - doesn't seem that long ago that we started the last one! Thanks Tickle
I'll join the not the best night's sleep group. DH didn't work last night so we watched Wall Street on the box last night and went to bed at the same time (never happens!) and slept ok til about 4am and then DH was wide awake (body clock all over the place) - and he can never stay awake by himself, he has to let me know he's awake. Then he starts asking random questions on how to make cheese on toast (?!). Also I was having random continuous dreams about reusable nappies and breast pumps
We get to do some more decorating in the babies room today- will put up the border, curtain pole and curtains and carpet fitted Then we can get the furniture back in and start sorting through all the stuff. Can't wait!
Labour vibes to the boldies - come on Chakani - you're just teasing us now lol.
  • Morning ladies, thanks for the new thread Tickle, sorry you had carp night tho. I'm on a 2 hour boring wait for OH's car to be serviced. If I'm still awake in 2 hours will be a miracle. If they muck me about I'll throw a hormonal pregnant hissy fit at them. I think they may know better after last time!
