Most of them don't even understand what most of it means.
Practically speaking I'm sure that it won't make any difference anyway. The technology is way ahead of the law on this.
  • The government attempting to play catchup and Mandy introducing another bill that he doesn't understand the impact of. What a change from the usual.
  • just another way of stooping people going on to sites that they don't want you to see. this is nothing more than a police state
  • It would not have been so bad if more than a handful of MP's bothered to turn up.
"Lets all pass this so we can get on with the important business of making sure we get reelected, hate to have to get a real job again."
  • How can they possibly pass a bill like this in 90 minutes?
Me thinks some MPs bank balances are a little higher today thanks to the music / entertainment industry
  • Just a thought but they may shut this site down as it contains to much information
  • As with all rushed through legislation, it will be ill-written and full of loop-holes - rendering it useless......the first person who gets done under this law will appeal and win.
  • Amazed this got passed. They'll be banning google next (oh no, that's China, it couldn't happen here...could it? ) Oh bring back the roll-eyes smilie!
  • Now it is not just the authorities that have power to see what you are doing online.
  • It's shocking that they think rushing a piece of legislation through like this is acceptable.
If this little care is taken making the law then why should I respect it?
  • Here's the list of shame (ayes):
    Quote:
  • oh what a surprise my lazy good for nothing MP didnt turn up
  • Eagerly waiting for the next company to be embarrassed by something uploaded to Wikileaks to get it banned using the DEB. Whoooo, freedom of speech! Oh, and you can kiss bye bye to free WiFi at your local coffee shop.
But hey, at least the record industry is happy, right?
  • The really shameful part of all this is that there were only about 15 MPs present during the debate. Just before the vote was called, about 200 appeared and voted.
    That is not democracy.
In my opinion, only those present for a debate should be allowed to vote.
Just turning up and voting as directed by a party whip makes a mockery of the system. Why have a debate at all if that's our interpretation of democracy?
