A question about : mortgage ppi issues with halifax

Hi, I have recently discovered that on my halifax mortgage that i have mrc, we were unaware that we had this, this element is in my ex partners name, we seperated and we were not in a financial postion for only one name on the mortgage so we continued to pay the mortgage and all details stayed the same, as its his name on that part of the policey he had to put the claim in and they refuse to deal with me, we have just been sent an offer and a cheque but its Ј2000 short of what we are owed, the mortgage has been running for 9 years, are halifax a diffiult company to deal with? we are not accepting this offer!! Anyone dealt with Halifax, many thanks
