  • Although I'm single and selected 'Never print photos - I keep them all digitally and have them backed up', I do print one off if someone asks me to, I've also been known to use a photo that I have taken as a starting point for a greetings card of some kind that I have made.
I took 350 photo's on a 3 day tour earlier in the summer, it would not be practical to print them all.
  • I have a colour laserprinter, so I can print my photos if I want, although I also share my photos on several websites, and have a digital photoframe.
I still have my old 35mm SLR, but haven't used it in years. I would often have an extra set of prints, but processed my own enlargements.
  • Still?
    I've never printed one.
  • I'm with Pastures i've never printed one, but i've got myself a new camera so will get into it more now.
Printed photos must be popular though, i know when i've been walking through the likes of Asda i've seen people at a sort of cashpoint machine getting photos.
  • The problem with 'home' printing is photos in sunlight will fade in a couple of years due to the ink.
I do still get photos printed on occasion though its becoming increasingly difficult to get a decent job done.
The Klick photo place in our local High Street do quite poor quality prints and also I've had lost orders in the past, their customer service in our local on is also awful. Boots are quite good with print quality though they normally have to dig the photography counter out of stock stored on it due to lack of use and also they are often late receiving the prints back. They also have a print it yourself cashpoint style unit which is often out of order. I mostly now use Photobox online, I can't fault their service or turnaround times, however the last two batches the print quality seems to have been lacking so I'm wondering if they have moved to cheaper/less good printing methods.
  • I voted "In a couple, never print photos but have them backed up" because that's true for me; however, my husband still uses a camera that takes film.
That said, he takes at most 70 photos in a year, whereas I take nearer 700, or possibly more than that.
We're a host family for a home-from-home dog-sitting service, and I take loads of pictures of our canine guests; if I had them all printed, it'd cost a small fortune. Plus I'd have to find somewhere to store them.
The only time I print any at all, which I do at home, is to use one as the basis for a greetings card, or if there's a particularly cute or funny shot I'd print it off to send to the dog's owner.
I used to make my own calendars, using my own photos (usually from holidays), but since signing on with the dog-sitting service, five years ago, I get their official calendar for free, so I don't bother making one any more.
  • My answer wasn't there.
I'm married, children are adults now.
I never take photos as I haven't a mobile phone that does that!
My husband takes photos and prints them up himself - he gives me a beautiful calendar with photos of our dog every Christmas! I'm a happy bunny with that!
  • I'm listening to someone on the radio who was talking about buying a roll of film. The presenter was surprised 'cos he didn't think you could get actual film anymore. He just said something interesting, we all take so many photos now that we have hundreds on our cameras that we can't even remember what they are or why we took them, so they end up getting deleted. He said he thought it was possible that in 50yrs time the most photographed generation in history wouldn't have any pictures of important events in their lives 'cos they'd all been deleted.
He was trying to persuade people to take one good photo and keep it in a album instead of 500 rubbish photos and throw them away.
  • I print out a photo book once a year of a selection of the photos from that year - it's nice to have, and its a back up for if I lose my camera. computer, back up drive etc
  • Results really need to be normalized for age if they're to mean anything.
  • I have a digital camera, and haven't used a film camera for about 15 years.
Most of my photos are stored digitally (in folders by year, month and event). If I were to print every single photo I have taken, it would cost me an absolute fortune!
I do, however, have a photo book printed once a year. I purchase some enlargements for 'special' photos for frames and have had some on canvas.
  • Yes I do still print photos. Probably about 200 a year. I store many of them in boxes, (about two thirds,) and the other third are displayed in albums, or frames. I have done this for many years.
The last time I got some printed in Tesco, the man in front of me had just dropped off an order for 1,500 photos to be printed!
The woman at the photo-mat said he told her, 'well it is almost a year's worth!'
  • I just print them for the olds... not for me though
  • I save and back them up through the year, then print a selection at the end of the year, so it normally works out at about 200 pictures for the year.
as I don't make the final selection until January, I tend to enjoy going back and looking at the past year's pictures, and also find that he the ones I chose to print off are not necessarily the ones I would have chosen as the best if I'd been printing them straight after taking them.
When I get them printed I will also sometimes get some additional prints done if there are specific photos (whether part of my slection for the year or not) which I think other members of the family would like to have.
I am considering whether to do a photo book instead this year rather than sticking them in an album.
  • Yes. Into photobooks.
Loose photos that I have to place in an album are a PITA.
  • 22 and print some, very rarely. Hobby photographer so a mix of personal and a few I've been pleased with. And a couple for gifts.
  • I print the good ones, which probably means about 5-10% of total photos taken. The rest are backed up on the NAS and two cloud storage accounts.
