Did you go shopping-mad in the January sales?

Lots of sales started before Christmas. Many that didn’t went into full swing online from Christmas Day, and in stores from Boxing Day. Did you/will you take advantage, or are you avoiding them like the plague?

• I don't normally fall for the "sales" but this year I knew I needed some new work clothes so waited until the sales were on so I didn't pay the inflated pre "sale" prices
• How can people not shop in the sales? I've already bought five Christmas presents and two birthday presents for this year. This is the only way our large family end up receiving decent gifts from us. It also meant I had a stress free run up to Christmas as I only needed a to buy a couple of gifts.
  By large I mean we've both got married grown up children from our previous marriages and a lovely amount of grandchildren.
• I used to shop in the sales, but i cant be bothered this year, i will pick up bargains throughout the year, and there are always sales just before christmas.
• I'm not at all surprised by the results - I'm more surprised by the question. Yes, I went to the sales - and some on line - but I hardly went shopping-mad. I bought three things I needed, at good prices, and think I've been level-headed, rather than 'shopping mad'.
• I bought lots in the Next VIP sale, but mostly for work. The trousers I like for work are usually Ј40 and always go down to Ј18 in the sale, so I stock up.
• My sales story. I bought a scarf for Ј7 was Ј16. The end.
• Bought from one online shop, spent under Ј40.00.
• The title is mis leading ,you ask if anyone went "shopping mad" but the poll just asks if you went or intend to go shopping.
  I did shop in the sales but not "mad" significantly less than previous years ,but your poll doesn't explore any other options so will give you a misleading result.
• 2 hand towels for Ј2.04 at Ikea (10%extra off with Ikea family card) and that's it in the sales. Wrapping paper bought last year and the year before and are stored neatly so still good to use and still have crackers bought cheaply 2 years ago. Had a look around our town and decided that I didn't actually need anything else so minimal spend for me this year
• I didn't go mad in the sales, but took advantage of them to buy a new laptop. I got Ј200 off my laptop, which cost me Ј550 after discount. If I didn't find a decent laptop in the sales I would have waited till I found a laptop I wanted at the right price.
