A question about : money missing from my bank account

i had Ј9500 in savings

and had Ј500 in my bank account, and the rest in a savings aco!!!!

i went on a gambling site

put on Ј30 and lost

i very rarely check my bank statement, yes big mistake of my life

on christmas eve i went on my online bank, and said i was overdrawn, i thought strange, ok i might have spent abit on christmas but have never been overdrawn.

I thought best thing, transfer my savings and once the overdrawn was clear, i would transfer back to my savings.

now theres loads of withdraws by the gambling site.

i checked yesterday, there was overdrawn by Ј956.

I quickly phoned the bank and canceled my card.

i was told to phone the fraud, but am worrying too much they could say its all my fault, also is it not only fraud pretection on credit cards ?

Best answers:

  • i feel so sick right now, it took my a long time to save, also considering i only make Ј800 a month
i am just hoping the bank could look at how my spending is, and see i spend very little
i still live with my parents, and they don't charge me
so they only things coming out are little i spend around Ј100 a month, the rest went to my savings.
  • oh wow, i really hope you get it back, it must be very hard but think positive.
I believe that the banks will sort it out,as similar happened to me in the past!
    Good Luck OP
  • Sorry to hear this. How much were the amounts withdrawn? How often was it? What times? Was there the encrypted padlock sign on the website when you put your bank details in?
  • thanks
whats worse, is my parents warned me don't go on gambling sites, i said i wasn't gambling as i thought its only like Ј30.
I pay for my phoneline in my room and broadband which is due on the 1st of everymonth
I phoned up the bank yesterday to cancel my cards, the guy just sounded chilled out about it, he was just like oh golly gosh, then saw all the gambling transactions and asked if i had anything to do with them, i said i tried a few times, he said ok seems like someone has got a hold of it then, ok i canceled the card phone up the fraud department and they can arrange for a refund
I feel so sick right now, i can't even phone up my bank as my parents are in, and i'd hate to think if they knew of all that money
  • i can't believe how sick i feel, but am the one at fault, for putting my bank details on the site
  • Sounds like the company has taken your money rather than a third party. If you used your debit card, you MAY be lucky getting your money back as it's usually credit cards that do that. Was there a padlock on the form where you put your bank details in?
  • you entered the 3 digits on the back of your card, and the amount you wanted on it.
  • i mentioned that to the company, because they ask for id before you start, they want a copy of your bank card, so you see everything, your driving lisence and phone bill/bank statement
  • i can't believe it will take 2 months before i have money again, i have never owed money in my life, or had Ј0 EVER
I wish the bank could look at that point of view
  • You gave them a copy of your driving license as well?! Did you notice a padlock in the bottom right corner of the screen?
  • can't beleive no-one's asked this yet... but which site was it?
    also...

  • jackpotjoy
  • Jackpotjoy comes up as 256 bit encryption which is very safe. Sounds like you filled in a phishing email. Or got redirected to a non bonfide website.
  • Did you put all of your savings in to cover the OD?
