A question about : Mon 22nd September

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of big stuff that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. title=Top

  • Morning lovelies!!
Back from a perfect weekend of surfing and beaching in Wales... Relaxed and ready to face a new week!!
Managed to get a lot done as we were staying at Mum and Dad's house while they are away, so took full advantage of their tumble dryer to get ahead of ourselves in the washing front!! Mum had also stocked up on food for us, so we had a fab weekend for only the cost of the fuel!
    Today's list:
Wash wetsuits and hang out to dry, put surfboards away
    Edit photographs
Made OH packed lunch to take to work
Do a 5 mile walk as part of ongoing fitness plan
Small top-up shop (Ј20 budget) at Lidl will see us through to payday
Make chicken enchiladas for tea tonight from stores
Hoover house and generally tidy up - my clothes need sorting!
See friend for coffee and catch up (at home so no cost)
    Sort out banking!!
In other news... My FD Regular Saver pays out today, have done really well this year saving money every month, so, some of this will pay the balance on OH's 30th (I'm hiring an "eco lodge" in Cornwall for both families and friends to come and join us) and the rest will go straight into our long-term savings.
Think that's about it from me!! Have a great day everyone
    Love,

  • Hello all,
Back at work today and back to the usual lift sharing arrangement. Brought salad from home for lunch, meaning to start a healthy eating week but couldn't resist the cake a colleague brought in (jam sponge - delicious). Have taken some frozen portions of shepherds pie out of the freezer for later.
OH's payday tomorrow. Would be nice if the promised pay rise came through (twice his line manager has said they'll put him on a higher point in the pay scale but it never seems to happen).
    No spending today.
    Best wishes x

  • Hello
Monday again, don't they come around quickly?
I have been doing some much needed work for my business, so have decided to have a rest (it involves carrying boxes up and down stairs and loading and unloading the car )
    Other than that I have:
    Checked banks
No spends apart from business ones
    All food from home
Strained juice from cooked quinces ready to make jelly. This may have to wait till tomorrow though, as I need DD to bring over some more jars.
Maybe some housework later when I get my breath back
Hope everyone is having a good day
  • Today I'll be:
Doing a long list of jobs I've been avoiding!
Cleaning the world's dirtiest car inside and out even though I was really tempted to pay someone to do it.
Repainting a door frame with paint left over from another job.
Cleaning the Back Hallway of Doom which has more soil in it that the garden!
  • Hi,
Late post from me today. Rubbish night's sleep & haven't felt too well today, but have kept the frugal faith:
*Laundry done overnight on cheap tariff & everything line-dried in the sunshine. Have set timer for another cheap wash tonight.
*Made a start on all the apples - apple chutney bottled & stored away in pantry, cider, apple & chilli jelly dripping through jelly bag. Have been saving Aldi Mayonnaise jars to re-use for chutney, as they look very smart with their bright blue lids.
*Did rubber chicken. It did roast dinner last night, I've made a potato topped chicken, leek & mushroom pie tonight & there's enough for curry tomorrow & a portion of stew plus 2 lunches. Made a jug of stock in the slow cooker.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Finished knitting long i-cord to finish off a Christmas present I've been working on.
*Cut fresh herbs & a few leeks from veggie garden.
*Sealed all remaining tomatoes in large brown paper bag to ripen them.
*Watched some recorded TV for free entertainment.
Everywhere I look at the moment, I see tons of jobs that need doing. Hope to feel more lively tomorrow, so I can get cracking with my list.
