A question about : mobile contracts

Just want to know where I stand if I am half way through my contract but have run into financial difficulties and cant afford the contract anymore. I have contacted Vodafone as I am 2 months overdue on payments but they are not willing to cut my tariff and negotiate with regards paying up the arrears as well as keeping up normal payments

Best answers:

  • What phone is it? If it's worth something you could sell it and use that money towards the contract, and pick up a cheap Ј10 phone to put your SIM in.
  • Sony Experia Z1
  • Well, you can fetch ~Ј100 for it, but it's probably too late now...
  • Death or bankruptcy are the only legal ways to void your contract early without penalty.
  • I don't want to end my contract I am just wanting to find a way to pay up the arrears as well as pay paying my normal monthly bill. They want it over 2 installments but I cant afford that. I have offered to pay it back over 6 months but they are not willing to go with that. Any suggestions pls
  • Sell the phone that you can't afford anyway?
Even if you wanted, you wouldn't be able to "end the contract" without paying what is due for all remaining months.
The only way is to pay what you owe. You seem to be taking this far too lightly.
  • Sell something else and use that to clear the arrears? We are talking about maybe around Ј50 here, so surely you can trade something to give you that sum? You are now 2m in arrears and Voda are under no obligation to extend that period to 8 months. Ultimately they may cut you off if you can't negotiate some compromise.
You'll then have no service and still be in debt to them.
