A question about : Microwave pressure cooker

Am posting here as I think it may get lost on existing pressure cooker threads on OS.

/

This new contraption is said to save oodles of time, which is great for the busy or terminallly lazy (ie me title=Embarrassment). Imagine making soup in a few minutes without risk of burning, all the smell involved in anything that requires constant stirring etc!

BUT using plastic to heat food to a v high temperature feels intuitively dodgy. Would you use it? Thoughts please.

Best answers:

  • That looks great but like you I'm uneasy cooking with plastic at such a high temperature. I have lakeland plastic pans that state bpa free but just use them for heating soup up.
I bought a stainless steel pressure cooker as had an aluminium one for years dont trust aluminium either.
I have to say I'm tempted with this though. Hate the hissing and steam from the pc and they are a pain l to clean. Tried slow cooker soup and in an ordinary pan but prefer my pc soup.
True you could just put boiling water into a conventional pc
and it isnt really big enough for the appetites in this house.
the article is worth reading for the funny comments alone
  • I too was tempted, but then I have a stainless steel pressure cooker, swapped from aluminium years ago. I use it every week either for soup or stew. Just now I simply could not afford it, and having the pressure cooker, which by the way was sort of free, I shut my eyes and turned the page.
  • Thanks Vf, looks nice, but a bit wary. If it did go bang, would damage microwave as well. Maybe would distort over time, and that is what I would be looking for.
  • Yes I agree it looks good but like i say it wouldn't be big enough for the vat of soup I make every week for our lunches.
The fact it's placcy even if it's bpa free. I think that's only
    Safe for cold drinking bottles.
I even use a stainless steel water bottle.
The fact it's placcy is putting me off as well as the price.
  • Jinny thanks for the tip about the comments in the article. Gave me a laugh!
