A question about : Lost honeymoon, flight cruise and hotel, still no compensation!! Ocean Florida.

Hi all
Due to volcanic ash cloud in April my husband and i lost our honeymoon which was booked as a package through Ocean Florida. It was our wedding present from family and friends, flight to Florida, car hire, 10 day hotel stay in Orlando and then 4 day Carribean cruise. Devastated is an understatement when the ash disrupted everything! Ј2000 lost and after emails, phone calls still not getting anywhere. Contacted ABTA who advised me that they cannot do anything but to contact TTA whom tour operator is member of. So i have and they have contacted operator who is now telling me it is going through the courts at the moment to see where the blame lies for paying out....If the courts rule that it is the tour operators then they will refund or if they say different such as insurance companies then will have to claim off them!!
I feel like im tearing my hair out. Have googled about court cases regarding this but cannot find anything.
Just aking if anyone has any onfo on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Shelley

  • Hi Cityboy
The holiday was booked as a package, we booked what was advertised. It was all booked with one invoice. I have always been told that a full refund should be given as it was a package.
The customer relations manager at ocean florida sent me an email (which i have tried to add but am not allowed to) telling me that it was in court so that a decision could be made as to who was at fault and who will be liable to pay out.
Am i being fobbed off once again??
Feel like i am, its nearly been a year now and totally fed up with it all.
I spoke to BA as they were who the flights were with and they have said the same as you, that the company that booked them were the only ones that would have received a refund.
The company are covered by TTA which i have understood to be a solicitor that holds the money paid by the customer until the customer is happy.....lol
    Many thanks shelley
