Loss assessor or loss adjustor?

A question about : Loss assessor or loss adjustor?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum so excuse me if I get something wrong! My sister in law had a really bad flood recently and had to go through insurance companies and she used a loss assessor. I personally didnt know what a loss assessor and a loss adjustor did, to be honest I thought they were the same thing but they're not. I thought I'd share this with you as I think its something that will really help (there were lots of threads with related comments but I'm not sure how to post in them!)

Loss assessors work for you, not the insurance company and make sure you get everything you're entitled too. My sister in law wouldn't have thought to claim for a number of things the assessor pointed out and they also deal with the whole claim and sort out surveyors etc. Loss adjustors work for the insurance company, not you.

• A Public Adjuster works for the property owner, not the insurance company. During the claims process your adjuster will take a physical inventory, obtain all relevant appraisals and ensure that all provisions of your policy are satisfied.
