A question about : LLoyds Platinum follow on 0% deal (no fee)

Lloyds have offered me a nice 0%, no fee deal with a 2% min payment

My last 0% ended in august and at the time there was 'no way they could waive the fee'.

So might be worth you calling to if you have one of these cards back from when they were good (about one year ago)

Can I still take this through Egg Money, and any tips of getting Egg Money cashback

Best answers:

  • Presumably you didn't cancel your card in August then? I'm just coming to the end of a 0% one for Ј15,000 on 31st December and was going to cancel the card, so maybe not then.
  • I came close, mary. Very close. I made three phonecalls and kept telling them they could do better. I even told them they were very 'computer says no' but they wouldn't budge!
Then the other day it was a different story, so keep it a few months if you get no immediate joy!
I have an 0800 number for the card closures/customer fulfillment center, but not on me
  • Keep an eye on the site for top stoozing 0% cards. There will be new ones in Jan '07 - you watch!
  • phoned to cancell,
    about 1 month after clearing
    a 0% 9 month 'no fee' bt
and was offered 1.9% for 12 months
    with no bt fee.

  • You probably wont get an 'extension'. Settle the debt. Leave the card alone. Wait a few months and you may get a new deal. I had a choice of 6 months 0% or 12 months low apr. Both with no fee IIRC.
  • yep i settled it. Just gonna leave in my draw now! Cheers
  • What does IIRC stand for, please?
An existing customer,I've just been offered 0% for 6 months,
    2% balance transfer fee.
May I ask what you say to stand half a chance of not being refused when calling up to get the fee rescinded?
What bothers me is that it says "we will charge interest on the fee". Assuming that I did take out the loan, does it mean that they would be running up interest for 6 months on the 2%? Is there any way of paying that off straight away, or is it a new way of them clawing back money on 0% deals?
  • Thank you. )
  • That was meant to be a similing smiley!
  • I got this card two years ago on a 6 month 0% deal. Every 6 months I clear the balance and call them up a couple of days later and ask to close my card.
Without fail retentions have offered me another 6 months at 0%, or 12 months @ 1.9 both with no fees. I go for the 0% given that they are happy to do the same deal every 6 months
  • My 9 month 0% came to an end Dec 31st. Rang to close the card but with tongue in cheek asked if they were prepared to let me have 0% for a bit longer. I think the guy strummed his fingers a few moments and then said okay, no fee for 6 months and 0%. So that's around Ј300 profit for me on Ј15,000.
  • That's good news ... I've just paid off my 3rd 6 month 0% deal with Lloyds, and will shortly be phoning to try and bag my 4th .... no wonder their shares lag their competitors so badly !
  • Thanks for the tips. I have a Lloyds card at the moment with about 5 months left to run at 0%. I will be sure to keep it after I transfer the balance from it for potential further use at a later point
Wish Lloyds would offer to repeat the fees free offer which they offered to their internet banking customers late last year. I could then get the wife to take one out and transfer a balance from another card..
  • See my post above, mine was fees free this time.
  • I also phoned to cancel. Got another 6 month @ 0% with no bt fee.
  • Does this work when cancelling LTSB Amex accounts too? - I assume as they're all the same outfit it should.
Also, mary, just to clarify - did to phone up intending to clear the balance or had you only just paid it off and then contacted them about closing the account?
