A question about : Lifeline screening

I am about to have the lifeline screening at a very cheap price. I saw an ad for the LifeLine screeing in my local news paper. They are offering for 4 tests, see below:
stroke/carotid artery screening
Atrial fibrillation screening
Abdominal aortic aneurysm(AAA)
peripheral arterial disease(PAD) screening
On top Blood work and osteoporosis screening

The whole will cost a person around Ј179.00. I have booked my appointment for all those tests with them. Although ,I never tried them before and dont know how accurate their results will be. I have some health problem and therefore will be too glad to hear from some one who have had an experience with the LifeLine before and how accurately they were tested against the listed ilnesses.
The lifeLine are doing their mobile screeing in various places in the south east right now and I believe they must have already attended so many people.

thank you

hazel

  • Hi Hazel,
First, thank you for signing up with Life Line Screening. The diseases we screen for are typically asymptomatic before they become more advanced, so taking proactive measures via health screening is a great step to take.
In response to your question about test accuracy, we can assure you that all Life Line Screening health screenings are very accurate. We have conducted millions of screenings since 1993. Our health screening technologists are also highly trained, and all test results are studied by board-certified physicians (whose diagnoses are also peer-reviewed).
If you are still interested in learning more about our quality standards and how we provide highly accurate health screening services, we encourage you to visit Quality Assurance Section on our website.
  • Life line screening were very quick to take my money.
I went for the tests, and despite them saying I would get my results in 21 days, I have heard nothing.
I have phoned and asked to speak with a manager, but so far they have not called back.
  • I just received a flyer for a "Life Line Screening" screening for 20 October 2011 at Broxborne Borough FC, Cheshunt. If the quality standards of a company is so poor it cannot spell Broxbourne then would you trust this company to undertake a medical service! I could not believe that once again medical services are being offered by people without access to my medical history and thus do not know how risky it is to scan people without checking with their GP. If a GP feels a scan is necessary then the scan is free on the NHS. If you cannot have timely access to a GP then you do not live in the UK or do not know how to contact your Council for advice.
See the BBC article "Warning over private health scans"
    (news bbc co uk / 1 / hi / health / 8030253stm) .
I suggest you report this company Life Line Screening website "lifelinescreening co uk" to the Government's Consumer Direct website "consumerdirect gov uk" , as I have just done. Hopefully this might help to protect the vulnerable. If you still want to spend Ј139, I suggest give the money to The Stroke Association (stroke org uk) rather than Life Line Screening.
Note that the advice for stroke prevention (stroke org uk / information / stroke_prevention ) does NOT include the advice that there is a need to pay for screenings. Judge for yourselves. Find out who owns this company and find out their profit margins.
  • I did a search on here for lifeline screenings as I wanted to get screens done and saw their advert - obviously this has brought up unhappy customers but has anyone been happy with them?
The advert offered an "exclsuive price" for my magazine's readers but when I went to their website this was being offered to everyone
The small prints says that "postal charges may apply" which was my main reason for checking here first - has anyone paid them and were they reasonable?
  • Life Line Screening is there any more recent opinions on this please
  • Don't be caught out - input 'Life Line Screening' in your browser Search, then read the BBC page and verdict before you pay any money!!
  • I have had the lifeline screening twice - the recent cost for this in the Bolton area is Ј129 for the full screening. I have been happy to pay this to have the assurance that I am not currently at risk.
The staff were pleasant and the tests were quick.
  • Just had a flyer from these people. There seems to be no serious critique of this company anywhere.
Questions that spring to mind are:
    - Is this company even qualified/competent to screen?
    - Why doesn't the cardiovascular-oriented Ј150 package of 4 tests also go on to include blood sugar and thyroid activity level?
    - What OTHER similar services exist that one can have confidence in? I am thinking of services that are at least linked with major private health organisations.
The BBC's ancient article on this company is short on fact and long on opinion and on Google Life Line's own rebuttal statement on the BBC site looks rather suspect in itself.
