A question about : Just got an iPhone 6 & ALL insurance companies sound awful!

I've been looking at reviews for Insurance2Go, protect your bubble, endsleigh, Switchedon insurance and literally hardly any have many good stories of having to claim, especially via loss, which is my main reason for getting insurance.

One which does fill me with more hope is https://www.hiccup.co.uk/ purely as its underwritten by Aviva and its Ј10 a month, which is only Ј3 less than Vodafones.

Has anyone got any good or bad experiences to make this annoying choice easier please?

Best answers:

  • Do you have to insure an IPhone ??
  • Of course not, but I'm a horrendously careless person. I never lost my iphone 4s without getting it back, but ive dropped it dancing, and put it down numerous times over 2 years.
  • I had my phones insured for many years with Switchedon insurance and never had an issue. they were underwritten by Lloyd's Syndicates, they 1 day i got a letter from them to say that my policy would now be underwritten by this company in Ireland (sorry cant remember the name as i never heard of them), but i checked this company out and they had reg as limited company 4 times and dissolved 3 times (all same name), so i informed Switchedon insurance i was not happy and did not want to be underwritten by this other company due to their track record. This was 12 months ago. now i pay a bit extra with my bank to insure my phones
  • I'm honestly tempted to just pay Ј12.99 with vodafone as i imagine it will be a lot easier to claim than external companies.
  • Ј10 a month for a Nationwide FlexPlus account, which includes insurance for all your family's phones (iPhone Ј100 excess for loss or Ј50 for damage or breakdown). AND you get breakdown cover for your car. AND you get worldwide travel insurance. AND extended warranty on electricals. AND 3% interest up to Ј2,500 in the bank account. :-)

  • If you have a habit of putting it down and forgetting it then you maybe in for a shock if you try to claim.
Would you leave your wallet or purse on the table with Ј400 - Ј600 poking out of it?
  • Have had to claim twice on Nationwide Flexplus cover and had no problems having the claim accepted by their underwriters.
  • Do you have home contents insurance? If so it may already be covered or you may be able to add personal possessions cover to cover it
  • I was possibly wrong when saying "no insurance", but it's worth saying that it's very uncommon for mobile insurances to offer "new for old" replacements.
