A question about : Junior Isa

My toddler has got a junior isa with NW and it will lose its bonus at the end of the end so is no longer competitive. I just want to know whether I could open an isa with Halifax with Ј50 so that my toddler can benefit from the 4% rate as long as I am a customer. This Ј50 will be dormant as I do not intend to add any money in it as the rate is nothing. I want to open the HF isa before April in my name and then after 5th April open a JISA for my little boy for 2015/2016, is that feasible? Thanks

Best answers:

  • Unlike adult ISA, you cannot open a second JISA. You will need to transfer the NW JISA in total to Halifax when you apply for a new JISA.

  • I opened my own Halifax ISA online last April, then went into the branch (you have to unfortunately for kids' accounts) and asked them to transfer my toddler's ISA from Nationwide to theirs and they sorted it all for me and opened his ISA. Hope this helps.
