A question about : ***Jobcentre Plus & 0800 numbers from a mobile

From 18th January 2010, customers of O2, Orange, Tesco Mobile and Vodafone will receive free mobile phone calls to our 0800 numbers for claims to State Pension, Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, and Employment and Support Allowance as well as to ask for emergency payments or crisis loans; those with T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile from 25th January 2010.

Customers of other mobile phone companies will be charged but DWP is now looking to reach a similar arrangement with them.

Best answers:

  • How about the standard 0845 number for jobcentre?
  • Really Ofcom should start a 06 number range for governmental dept and charities that mean FREE from ANY phone, carriers HAVE to allow carry as part of thier liecence agreement - it too little, the claim line is free but the enquiry line is not, now given the amount of mess ups that happen with CTC/WTC/DWP benefits and calls people have to make its idiotic to think "yes then the claim line should be free" when you have no money or landline how are are you meant to call to sort out issues with payments ?
