Interview offered...then withdrawn

A question about : Interview offered...then withdrawn

So I had applied for a job for Greggs in the nearest main town where I live. Received a phone call on Monday afternoon asking to attend an interview next Monday. I asked if I would get an email to confirm which I did this afternoon. But apparently they sent another email half an hour after later saying that I had not been selected for interview. Wtf? Are they allowed to do this?

• Ring them up and check, it could be an email to numerous people who didn't get the interview and you were mistakenly added
• I second that you ring and check, could just be a computer problem that added you to the wrong list. Either way best to check
• They would be able to withdraw the offer of an interview, there is no contract between you. The chances are its a simple mistake but the question is if the phoner or the emailer is the one thats made a mistake
