• Hi, I am no expert being newly bankrupt but some of the guys on here are a huge help and can advise you better.
  What I do know is your first steps are to contact a free debt advisor agency, either Stepchange or National debt helpline are great. You will need to do this as on bankruptcy day the judge will definitly ask you this question.
  You can either download forms 6.27 & 6.28 online to print off or call the Insolvency office who will send these to you. Once you completed the form you call your local county court to make a appointment. The bankruptcy fees are Ј705 or if you are entitled to any help Ј525.
  I hope that gives you a brief outline, there are also stickys available to read and very useful.

• If you're thinking of applying for bankruptcy then it might be worth putting on hold the mortgage you're looking for in the other thread.
• Before anyone else replies look where the OP lives.
• As others have said american laws regarding bankruptcy are very different to the UK here...
