A question about : How To Lose Weight Without Buying Expensive Foods

6 years ago I was told by my GP (and im very thankful) that I needed to loose weight as I had a family history of diabetes. I was offered a referral to a NHS dietician who informed me that meal replacement bars and shakes etc such as the slim fast ones were totally unnecessary. I ha sugar free muesli for breakfast Weetabix for lunch then a proper meal such as chilli or even quiche and baked potato in the evening plus fruit and yogurt for snacks and I lost almost a stone the first month. After a month I had muesli or Weetabix for breakfast then sandwiches or potato for lunch then an evening meal and lost over 3 stone in 5 months. Im now a size 12 and happy to go no lower and stay there I just buy ordinary food from the supermarket and make sure I ear some fruit and veg every day and ive stayed a size 12.

Best answers:

  • Can't see why anyone would need to buy expensive foods, replacements etc. Most of the so-called 'slimming' foods are loaded with sugar. We don't buy anything 'low fat'. Potatoes are best eaten with the skin on because the nutrients are just beneath the skin and the skin is fibre which is valuable.
  • As above. Just eat less. You will lose weight and save money at the same time. Bonus!
