A question about : High cost of pets on cross channel ferries
It costs Ј30 to take a pet on holiday, 2 pets would be Ј60 on whatever schedule crossing.
It can cost as little as Ј52 for the same journey for a car and up to 9 passengers.
How can that be fair?
All operators charge the same price where's the competition?
Seems like profiteering & price fixing to me so I'd like to see a campaign

Best answers:
- It's cheaper on euro tunnel
- I would use Eurotunnel as not only is it cheaper but the animal gets to stay with you for the crossing.
When I have taken my dog abroad I have only ever used Eurotunnel. I don't like the thought of any animal having to be left in the car alone for the length of the crossing - Shoot or strangle the animal before leaving and get another one free from a rescue center when you get back. That is money saving.
- There's a whole industry seems to have built up around the idea of taking pets with you. The price often seems entirely unconnected to any additional charges. Travelodge - you get a family room for Ј19 and they charge Ј20 extra for a dog. Some campsites charge Ј5 per night for a dog.
We are on our first dog and intend leaving him with my mother-in-law when we go on the cross-channel ferry this year. I don't think he would like the heat and it would be quite restricting if we wanted to go to a theme park for the day.
All the pet passport, see a vet and health restrictions were at least part of our decision. It just seems more hassle than it is worth.
