A question about : Help...my Nexus 4 isn't working

Hi all

I am having issues with my Nexus 4, most apps aren't working, including Google Play!

Is this an issue with the OS? I am a complete techno phobe and could do with some help please?

Thanks

  • Do you really hope to get any help by posting as little information as "most apps aren't working, including Google Play"?!
Even a technophobe has to understand that it's far too little. The only advice you can get in this case is a hard reset.
  • I'm not sure what information would be usefull?? I have tried turning it off and on again, my GMail wont work, Google Play wont work, Facebook is working, BBC weather appears to be working, Hangouts wasn't working but I have managed to delete this and a lot of times when I search on google it crashes. I have had issues recently with the phone turning itself off.
  • Do I need Google Play?
  • I think theoretically you can use a browser instead to go to the Play Store, but in my Android I can't uninstall Google Play app anyway.
With such vague and inconsistent problems I guess a hard reset is your best bet.
Synch your contacts with your google account first and back up all photos, music etc.
  • I don't know whether to just do a fctory reset, is the only thing that I need to take a note of my contacts, I haven't got loads but not sure if they'd be on my sim anyway?
  • Unplug the battery and plug it in again - see youtube videos on how to do it.
  • Thanks grumbler for the link, I am now waiting for the phone to finish re-loading.
  • Probably too late now, but I was going to ask how much memory you have free on the phone? SD card installed?
If you've set it up correctly then your all contacts will be stored in your online Google account and will resynch with that when you've reinstalled.
  • Plenty of memory left.
All good, phoes working and everything has reloaded including my contacts Happy Days.
